What can I say about this place? It was such a huge reason on why our trip to Tuscany was so incredible. We stayed 8 days in this property and I have nothing but good memories to share. The place is neat, comfortable, equipped with all kitchen appliances and washing machine, surrounded by a spectacular landscape. The owners Giovanni and Silvia are great! Very pleasant, willing to help, full of nice suggestions on how to enjoy the area, truly caring about your well being while there. We tried their local produced wine and fresh eggs. For us it was an incredible experience, we could really experiment a bit of the Tuscan countryside. From there we drove to the major Tuscan cities with no issues, and thanks to them we learned that we could take the train to Florence rather than facing the parking constraints there. Highly recommended.

Your rental cottage is beautiful and has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. But more importantly you made us feel so welcome and gave us the true Italian cultural experience we were looking for.

From the moment we arrived you were looking out for our every need. We thoroughly enjoyed your homemade wine. It was such a nice welcome along with freshly laid eggs from the chickens on your farm. We also appreciated your recommendations of what sights to see and where the locals like to eat. Our visit was thoroughly enjoyable.

As I write this we are spending our last night night here at Villino del Grillo. As many others have suggested we are feeling a bit sad to leave and wish we had booked longer of a stay here.

This apartment is in a former barn/cellar of a small working farm. As such it is not luxurious and is rather dark: barns don't have many windows!
Having said that, it was excellent value for money and perfectly adequate for a couple, though would be a squash for any more.
The really strong points are its location on a quiet country lane, but in easy reach of all the main Tuscany tourist "must visits": Siena, Firenzi, San Gimignano, Voltera, etc. The local town of Certaldo also has a lovely medieval walled citadel.
The owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, and really do want you to have a great time in Tuscany.
Whilst a car is pretty much essential, Sienna and Firenzi are much easier to visit by train from Certaldo, avoiding the horrendous parking issues in these towns.

A comfortable, well equipped, beautifully converted cottage with lovely typical rustic features, nestled into the hillside among Vines, Mulberry & Cherry trees & sweet smelling Jasmine, with amazing views of San Gimingano just a short walk up the hill.
Giovanni & Silvia and all the family are friendly, helpful & generous providing very tasty new laid eggs & their home produced wine which was very good indeed.
We highly recommend Villino de Grillo to have the full Tuscan experience, peace, quiet, scenery & generous hospitality.

Accommodation of this standard is extremely rare. We stayed just two nights in Giovanni and Silivana's country cottage, but wish we could have stayed much longer. It is peaceful, scrupulously clean, and has everything visitors could ever wish for. The area around is simply beautiful, and the cottage has a rustic charm and tranquility. We were given fresh eggs, firewood and even local wine on arrival. The cottage has been lovingly restored with every luxury included.
It is impossible to fault Villino Del Grillo. For charming, warm, ultra-clean accommodation in a quiet area close to San Gimignano, you could not do better. The owners are both delightful, kind and helpful people who are a pleasure to deal with. Thank you both for make our stay so totally enjoyable and stress-free.
