We stayed at Broom House for one night on our way north as a break in the journey and had a wonderful relaxing few hours in a little haven of peace and tranquility. The new owners Georgina and Michael have set up a wonderful bed and breakfast in a gorgeous old house, beautifully furnished and very clean. We stayed in The Bridge Suite which has views out over the countryside both at the front and the rear, a seating area with a very comfortable sofa, a good sized bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The hosts do not do evening meals so you would have to eat out for dinner (the 2 village pubs are both within easy walking distance) but they do make a superb breakfast with a good choice including Whitby Kippers. If you are looking for a stress relieving break then add this place to your list. We will definitely be returning again to sample this haven of calm

We stayed at Broom House the night before our last leg of walking the Coast to Coast (about 29 Kms from here to Robin Hood's Bay). We arrived here very early as we only had a short walk from Blakey Ridge (about 3 hours) but Georgina welcomed us and allowed us to settle in before wandering down to the village to have a drink at the local pub, the Horseshoe Inn (try the shortcut to the pub by walking over the 'stepping stones'). As we had a long day of walking ahead, Georgina and Michael were happy to serve our breakfast early and send us on our way with a lovely packed lunch. The patio and garden are just gorgeous, and our room (number 1) was bright and spacious. Would definitely stay here again. And we completed the Coast to Coast, yippee!!

Warm welcome with tea made for us served in our own patio area. Sun shining breakfast served out side on the patio -how lovely. Nothing's is too much trouble for this welcoming couple who make you feel you want to book again soon for your next peaceful break. Best nights sleep for a long time -highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 9 has it's own lounge and out door patio

we stayed here in the first week of the new owners (lovely couple who seem well suited to the role - friendly and keen to keep the best of the existing business and move it forward) having found it on Trip and wanting somewhere to stay near Whitby. The rooms are large and the beds King size and comfortably firm. The house is 10mins walk from two local pubs with good food and feels totally rural but is only 20mins drive from Whitby. Beautiful drive in over the North York Moors. The breakfast is local produce and delicious. The rooms are modern(rm4) in decor and have great views into the garden and Esk valley. Birdsong might disturb your sleep but the train line at the foot of the garden wont - only an occasional train - steam if you are lucky. The previous owners appear to have set the place up as a restaurant and rooms, it is now focussed on the B and B but there is no shortage of local eating out - Postgate Inn - expensive and good, Horseshoe Inn not expensive and just as good. Would be glad to stay here again.
