My husband and i had the privilege of celebrating our 32nd anniversary at Chuck and Gerry France's 1897 Beekman House in Dundee, NY. It was by far the best anniversary ever! Chuck and Gerry were attentive without being smothering and then we feasted on an incredible breakfast - actually it was so much more than a simple breakfast - we started with Gerry's famous almond-poppy seed bread. Then chef Chuck brought in a pear poached in a red wine reduction stuffed with spiced mascarpone cheese - we scraped the plates clean. Finally, the pièce de résistance: Eggs Benedict, as i have never had before which is not surprising as chef Chuck smokes his own Canadian bacon and the English muffins and hollandaise sauce were made from scratch. As if that wasn't enough, the home is beautifully decorated in the Victorian period. The house has fascinating architectural details and the owners are restoring the original dormers. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cottage Room which is slightly apart from the other rooms. The only - and it was m...

This quaint Victorian home that is owned by Chuck and Gerry France is the perfect setting for a weekend getaway. Let me just start off by saying that the food is spectacular. I have never had a gourmet breakfast such as the one that was prepared by Chuck (a professional chef). The Beekman House is gorgeous with beautiful furniture and a perfect scene that instills tranquility. When we visit wine country we will be sure to book with Chuck and Gerry as their home and service are unmatched in the industry. Thanks Chuck and Gerry,

Jason and Mallory :)

We could not have asked for a better experience while staying in the Finger Lakes. We picked the Beekman House because of the great descriptions of breakfast as well as the good room descriptions and reasonable prices. Throughout our whole stay we felt very much at home; Chuck and Gerry are wonderful and warm hosts. They took the time to show us around the house, give us restaurant recommendations as well as just relax, talk and watch TV. The room was very comfortable and looked gorgeous. The whole house looks amazing and we felt that we were at a very special place. The clawfoot tub in the bathroom was another great touch!

Breakfast each day was well beyond our expectations. Everything was delicious and chef Chuck gave great explanations and descriptions of everything we had. We especially loved the pears poached in wine, quiche, blueberry & orange stuffed french toast and gingerbread cookies. It was quite a romantic and relaxing setting. The cookies and coffee cake for afternoon snacks were just as good. Gerry was kind enough to give us a few extra pieces to take home with us! For the price we paid, our stay was above and beyond what we expected. We hope to be able to return soon and will be recommending the Beekman House to all our friends and family!

Room Tip: Make sure to decide whether you want a tub or not

When planning our trip, I chose 1897 Beekman House based on the gorgeous photos of the rooms and the mouth-watering descriptions of breakfast. I was not disappointed, and in fact, I was surprised by how much the experience exceeded my expectations! About a week before our trip, my husband called to ask for restaurant recommendations in the area, and Chuck gave us a few suggestions, but also offered to make us dinner himself. He worked up a menu for a 5-course Italian dinner that sounded amazing, for a more than reasonable price. When we arrived to check in, Chuck and Gerry greeted us at the door, showed us around, and took us to our room, which was even more beautiful in person than the pictures. After taking our luggage upstairs, we spent some time downstairs chatting with them, and they were friendly and warm and positively wonderful to talk to. We soon changed for dinner, and the experience was incredible. The food was all skillfully handmade and absolutely delicious. I could not have had a better birthday dinner at any restaurant in the world. After our intimate dinner, we relaxed in front of the fireplace for a while before heading upstairs to bed, where we slept like babies in a comfortable and beautiful bed in the Oriental Room. For breakfast, we were served coffee, a fruit smoothie shooter, Peach Vols au Vent, which is a delicious pastry, a red wine poached pear stuffed with spiced mascarpone, and and egg strata with Chuck's own sausage.

Chuck and Gerry made our trip incredibly memorable and wonderful. There is nothing about this trip that could be improved, except that I would have liked to stay longer!

Should we make it back to the Finger Lakes area, we will certainly return to 1897 Beekman house. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We chose this b&b based on the pictures of both the house and the gourmet breakfast, and wound up finding such a rare gem! The house is gorgeous, the food scrumptious, and the inn keepers are so warm and welcoming! We didn't want to leave (In fact, I was ready to have my husband leave me there during the week while he returned to work, then come back to pick me up the following weekend!)! Chuck was even kind enough to email me a recipe for his delicious poached pears! We were certainly spoiled by this get away. We will most definitely be going back!!

The 1897 Beekman House was a beautiful, peaceful getaway. The Owner's Chuck & Gerry possess very warm and welcoming personalities, making us feel right at home. They know just how to take care of their guests. The stunning beauty of this victorian home mingles with all the amenities one might need. The atmosphere throughout the entire house was so romantic. The food was superb! Best breakfast ever! Truly a wonderful experience. Gorgeous, clean B & B clearly with very high standards. Loved the comfy bed also. We thank our host & hostess very much and can't wait for our return trip!

Beekman House Review

The 1897 Beekman House B&B in Dundee, NY gave us a warm base from which to explore the Finger Lakes. This large, old Victorian home is immaculately kept, with sparkling ammenities. Only one problem: I didn’t want to leave the comfort, elegance, and luxurious hospitality of our hosts and their lovely home. There are so many cozy corners in which to relax and read. Alas, the wine country, hiking trails and lakes beckon after Chuck and Gerry provide a relaxing, and SERIOUSLY INDULGENT breakfast. They are locavores and community minded, and will make you feel like it’s your birthday! Oh, yeah, it was! The best birthday present ever!!

Room Tip: If you like the clip clop of early morning Mennonite traffic, pick a front room!:)
