If you are a visitor to Colgate, I highly recommend it. The food was great. I had a blueberry-cabernet bisque and pork tenderloin. This place is a gem, and I will be going back when we visit Colgate again.

So excited to visit, the place is adorable, the fireplace was lovely and the service was first rate. Very welcoming experience. But. . . the polenta fries were meh, just nothing special and I didn't find the homemade ketchup that tasty. The crab cakes were not made from jumbo lump crab, tasty enough but no lumps anywhere. The field green salad too had little flavor. The white BBQ marinated chicken sounded so great, but where was the white sauce? Just some grilled chicken breast. The ravioli wasn't al dente, just undercooked. I hate sounding so negative- I mean nothing was awful but based on the previous reviews my expectations were really high.

The food was amazing, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The Maple glazed duck was divine and so was the creme brule. My family also enjoyed the other dishes and we will be back. Its not very often you are able to find a gem in upstate New York. Honestly, that diner alone was worth the trip from Gettysburg.

Outstanding brunch. Accommodated at the last minute with 7 of us. Butternut squash soup was outstanding. Calamari great. Southwestern omelette, crab eggs Benedict, lobster Mac and cheese, and pancakes all delectable. Another great meal in front of the walk in fireplace. Can't wait ti next time.

We are occasional visitors to the Poolville Country Store Restaurant and B&B. We have stayed in the cottage and have taken advantage of brunches/dinners. Without a doubt, Roger and Charles have the knowledge and skill to exceed at both endeavors.

The cottage has always been a special hideaway for us when needed. It is charming without the fluff, modern with a personality. And the morning brings a continental breakfast that is unique and filling.

The restaurant is amazing! Each and every time we have dined here (probably a couple dozen times over 3 years), the menu is a delight to read and the food is wonderful. For example, last evening we arrived to a menu which featured new and interesting items. For appetizers we ordered the Raclette and Cream of Tomato soup. We shared each because the food's that good, and neither of us wants the other to be deprived. For the entree I had a curried root vegetable stew. The curry flavor was not super bold (preferable as too much curry can be a turn-off), allowing the vegetables (potatoes, parsnips, carrots) lying on Israeli couscous to speak. My husband had the special which was a grilled Mahi Mahi covered with a pineapple salsa and accompanied by a squash puree and herbed rice. Again, we shared the bounty.

With all this yumminess, there was still dessert. Listen up: It gets no better than when you are sharing the whisper-light taste of a pumpkin mousse topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a chewy ginger cookie followed by the icy, cold jolt of apple cider sorbet. Fabulous...

Roger and Charles, you never disappoint. You two are the real deal!
