“Beautiful country, nice inn”
Reviewed 17 August 2009

My family and I stayed two nights here, in the large private "suite" last week. The suite was spacious and well appointed. The bedroom was very comfy and cozy and the kids stayed on the living room pull out and an air mattresss we brought. The bathroom was large, but had an unclean odor about it.
The countryside was beautifual and it was, as others have said, restful, peaceful, and not too far away from the action of Cooperstown. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
A few minor points I wasn't happy with: We were never greeted warmly or engaged in a conversation by the owners that others have made such a fuss about. I found them, esp. the wife, to be pretty business like and cool. I was checked in proptly with a very businesslike efficiency, not engaged in any conversation, and was treated the same when I went back to pick up a brochure. I was not made to feel comfortable hanging in the office/lounge at all, rather rushed to get out. Breakfast was a crowded and rushed affair with not even close to enough seating to accomodate everyone who naturally comes down for breakfast all at once. I ended up sitting on a couch juggling my plate and coffee, and my kids sat on the floor at a coffee table. Not ideal. The food was fine, nothing special, though to be fair I didn't have a waffle.
I just didn't feel "the love" that others here have raved about. It was a perfectly fine inn, but nothing to write home about. Maybe we just caught them (again, mostly her) on a bad couple days. Oh well.

We are very upset to hear that a guest of ours did not feel welcomed at our inn. We work so hard at making our guests feel comfortable and want everyone to feel relaxed while they are here. We are overjoyed when we see people relaxing, playing games and socializing in the lobby and are so sorry to hear that these guests felt that they were rushed out of there. Never would we ever intend to make anyone feel that way. As far as the breakfast goes, usually the 10 rooms of guests come spaced out during the 2 ½ hour window of breakfast and unfortunately that day everyone seemed to come at the same time. My husband has been wanting to enlarge the breakfast area because he hates it if anyone ever has to wait. Also, I am sorry she felt the bathroom had an unclean odor to it. We always make sure that every part of our rooms are extremely clean. I won’t even allow anyone to check into a room after our cleaning staff has cleaned it until I have personally checked every part of that room. I can’t say how upsetting it is to me that one of our guests did not feel welcomed here. We work very hard to make everything welcoming and comfortable in every way. Please see our other 30 reviews.

While looking for Cooperstown accommodations that would put us near the Baseball Hall of Fame as well as near Glimmerglass Opera, we were increasingly dismayed at the expense we would incur by staying in town. So we settled on the Meadowlark Inn as a compromise, 5 miles from the opera and about 10 miles from town.

Well, there was nothing "compromised" about it! The expansive, spotless property was charming and comfortable, with a beautifully landscaped backyard that brimmed with wildflowers. And though the surroundings were rather "out in the middle of nowhere," what a spectacular "nowhere" that turned out to be. After dodging the Cooperstown crowds and searching in vain for a parking space, it was a welcome relief to head back to the Meadowlark Inn (a scenic drive along the lake) and relax on the back patio or around the fire pit, gaze up at the night stars, and just chill out -- or watch a free DVD movie in our room.

The rooms are all the same, except that each has different pretty drapes and bedspreads. The baths (as others have mentioned) are really big. Helpful touches like a mini fridge, ironing board, lots of white towels, etc., make guests feel as if the owners care.

And they really do care! We didn't meet George, but Tina was a doll. She phoned Glimmerglass to make sure the concession was open, since we were starving before our matinee. She even called us after we checked out and offered to mail us our cellphone charger when we accidentally left it behind.

These are really nice people. And the Meadowlark Inn is a very comfortable, unpretentious, welcoming place. It's no wonder they have many repeat customers who book year after year.

Last week we stayed two nights in the Meadowlark Inn for our visit to Cooperstown.
Everything was as described on their website, the room was spacious, clean, comfortable beds and there's also a dvd player. You can choose a movie in the lobby and there's also a computer with free internet access available.
The breakfast in the morning is superb, Tina you really made us feel at home, you make the best Belgian wafels outside Belgium ;-) !
It was really a pity that we didn't have enough time to spend some more nights as we had to move on to Boston.
Go to the Meadowlark Inn, you won't regret it.

My 14 year old son and I stayed at the Meadowlark Inn earlier this month. We were so pleasantly surprised by this lovely Inn. The room was immaculate and spacious, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom spotless and large. We loved the selection of DVDs, the free wireless internet access, and the delicious breakfast. The grounds were beautiful.

The innkeepers were friendly and well organized.

It was an easy drive to Cooperstown down a lovely road.

All in all a great place to stay. I have already recommended it to others and hope to go back again.

In the midfle of farm countyry on the way to Cooperstown is a wonderful refurbished motel with designer touches and a homey feel. The innkeeper's are a woindefrul family that made us feel most welcome. Their backyard was perfect for an evening game of whiffle ball and campfire. Highly recommend!

We had a fabulous time during our stay at the Meadowlark Inn. The back deck and backyard, complete with chimenea, grill, sitting areas, badminton net and other sporting equipment, and lots of room to walk or play, were fantastic! The breakfast, complete with made to order waffles and fresh fruit, was wonderful. We had three adjacent rooms which were all very spacious with large bathrooms. The grandparents enjoyed sitting and watching the kids run in the back yard. We all enjoyed the comfortable lobby with coffee, tea, and snacks available all day. We would definitely stay at the Meadowlark on a return trip to the Cooperstown area; the kids have already talked about coming back. High-speed Internet on the lobby computer and free Wi-Fi in the rooms worked really well. Tina and George are great hosts!

We loved the Meadowlark Inn! As soon as we arrived, we felt like we were home. My husband's first reaction to the room was that it was immaculate (a very important requirement for us!) While my husband was looking at the room, George was playing ball with our son in the backyard (we've never had an innkeeper do that before!) Everything in the room was just as described on the web-site. The refrigerator was much larger than your average 'cube'. The beds were very comfortable (loved the memory foam!) We really appreciated being able to have a beverage on the back deck while keeping an eye on our son as he fell asleep. The grounds are just beautiful - there is a maze cut into the tall grass in the back yard which our son just loved (Mom did too). The breakfast was plentiful and had everything anyone could want - fabulous waffles, made by George, fresh fruit, many different kinds of cereal and baked goods, coffee/tea/juice and more. We've stayed at many inns/B&Bs over the years - George and Tina are truly the nicest, most genuine and hospitable innkeepers we have ever met. When we come back (which we will), we plan to barbecue on the patio - hopefully they'll join us!
