Owner description: The National Soaring Museum houses a world-class collection of sailplanes and gliders, preserving the history and heritage of motor-less flight. NSM is located next to an active glider port, allowing visitors to witness takeoffs and landings, especially during the busy summer months. Public glider rides are available on a first-come, fist-served basis. Harris Hill offers many enticements besides a visit to NSM. The Museum is located adjacent to Harris Hill Amusement Park, featuring miniature golf, go-karts, batting cages, a driving range, an arcade, snack bar and more: as well as a pool, picnic grounds and a scenic overlook.

The museum is fun and worth the trip! It is located on top of Harris Hill Park, which is a Chemung County Park. The best part of the museum, is outside you can take (for a fee) glider rides! Watching the gliders soar off of the top of the hill is breathtaking! The view from Harris Hill of the valley is gorgeous! Worth every minute of time spent at the museum and taking a glider ride.

Harris Hill, outside of Elmira, that's where. And its small, but its impressive. Lear about the history of soaring, much of which was nade right here in Big Flats, NY. Great displays, interesting artifacts and photos. Great stop whether you live in the area or are passing through.

The place is really, really cool. Filled with all sorts of gliders. The kinds that only a few of us get to see-not your standard "Air Show"flying machines. The Staff are all really friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the time! Great place to learn the history on "Soaring!"

We were on a group tour which stopped at the museum. Small with gliders and historical information. It would be a good spot for those interested in this type of history - otherwise do not go out of your way !

This museum is a treasure trove of the history of gliders and early flight and what seems to be a possible future for flight. You need some time to read all of the descriptions at the displays. We were lucky enough to see one of the planes towing a glider and taking off. The location is very beautiful.
