Mark Twain and family are there as well as Ernie Davis and a host of other distinguished people. The cemetery is kept up beautifully. There is a real sense of pride here! It is definitely a must see while in Elmira.

Great place to walk around and see the history of Elmira and surrounding areas, there are many famous grave sites here, including the great writer Mark Twain.

I love cemeteries!!! AND I visit them where ever I travel. Having said that, I must say that this is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. It is very large, beautifully shaded and a great place for a picnic. No kidding. It is fun to explore the "famous" grave sites here: Mark Twain, Hal Roach and Ernie Davis. But don't pass up the opportunity to just stroll or drive the little lanes and take in the not-so-famous rest stones and adornments. This place is full of beautiful angel statues and poetic epitaphs. And if you are into grave rubbings, you've struck gold here.

Went to see Mark Twain's gravesite, but found a great walking cemetery also. Many beautiful mausoleums and markers. Very hilly, but would be good for a long walk.

This beautiful cemetery has the graves of some noted persons--Mark Twain the writer, Hal Roach the famous Hallywood producer and Ernie Davis, who won the Heisman trophy in football. The cemetery does a good job with signs directing you to those graves of famous people.
