This is another charming place to go for food and spirits. The menu is full of delicious items. I have eaten here several times and haven't been disappointed yet. It's worth the short trip.

We have had many fish fry dinners at Mc Ardles over the years. Both in house and takeout. Seems like they have a new supplier. Fish fry we ordered was shaped like a triangle! Did not look or taste like freshly cooked haddock. Breading was heavy. Seemed like it was straight off the Sysco truck.

I went to McArdles for the first time in years. We had a party of 10, spread among two booths across the aisle from one another.

Among our party all the pasta dishes were big hits. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese ($16.99). The very large portion of cavatappi was bathed in a creamy, slightly piquant cheese sauce, dotted with a large number of succulent lobster chunks, and topped by panko and some green onion slices. To die for.

Three in our party had the pasta special which were the same cavatappi topped with a sauce with sausage, tomatoes and spinach. Also pronounced delish.

One had the Mediterranean pasta: cavatappi tossed with sautéed roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts in a light white wine garlic sauce, topped with crumbled feta cheese (13.99). Big thumbs up.

The Chicken French (15.99) served with broccoli florets and angel hair pasta with Asiago Cheese was also a winner.

On the down side the Cod Special with Scampi Shrimp was a big disappointment. The fish was deemed tasteless and the butter sauce was just butter.

All of these dinners came with a large mixed green salad with lots of black olives, garbanzo beans and croutons. The Parmesan Peppercorn dressing I had was a winner. A basket of Baguette-style bread and butter was provided.

Two others of our diners chose sandwiches. The Chicken Sandwich ($9.49), topped with melted Swiss, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise was moist and delicious, but the bread was too unsubstantial to stand up to the fillings. French fries were lukewarm and flabby. The Chicken Caesar Wrap ($8.99) was deemed acceptable; applesauce was allowed to be substituted for the fries.

Service was cheerful and attentive. Water refilled often. The owner came by to ask about our dinners. The pasta-eaters responded vociferously positively, not really allowing those less thrilled to speak up.

I have been to McArdle's on many occasions....weeknights and weekends. I have been there on seemingly slow nights and on nights when there is a waiting line. No matter how busy they are, the food is always well prepared, served timely by accommodating servers and cooked to order. I love their new addition of a wonderful beer-battered fresh cod fillet featured now on Wednesdays and Fridays. I have tried various specials as well as items off the menu, and all have been more than acceptable. I find the prices to be fair for both meals and beverages. It is the place I want to be on a cold, snowy evening, enjoying a cup or bowl of their wonderful chili, some garlic bread and a wonderful glass of wine!! McArdle's has a welcoming atmosphere, great employees, and they treat their customers like friends...always making sure all is well with your dinner. It is one of my favorite places!

Have stopped in for dinner and Happy Hour a few times. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced. I highly reccommend the wedge salad and the quesadillas! Parking can be a little tricky on busy nights.
