This is a wonderful little restaurant tucked away to one side of the plaza in Consell, close to the Ribas bodega. The interior is authentic and cosy with an open fire during the winter months and with additional tables and comfortable chairs for dining outside during the warmer months.
The restaurant is run by the owners Toni, who looks after front of house, and Anna, the chef, who have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The food is fresh, seasonal and expertly prepared and presented. As an example, the menu includes speciality salads, home made croquetas, or seafood such as razor clams to start, a selection of pasta dishes, a delicious (and very substantial) steak au poivre, fish dishes such as Turbot and John Dory, and a selection of delicious home made desserts. Local wines are well represented and fairly priced.
At lunchtime a 3-course menu with choices, and including wine and water, is also offered for less than 13 euros, representing great value for the quality provided.
I have now been to Es Rustic several times, for both lunch and dinner, and the quality has been consistent each time. If possible book ahead, the restaurant is small and it is becoming more popular as the word spreads.
