Got a room there for one night. $177 for the cheap basic room. Since I wasn't planning on spending much time there, that was fine. However, while lying down on the lumpy, squeaky bed, I realized there were spills and stains on the walls. In the bathroom, while not visible, there was something (?) caked on the basin. After removing my shoes, I realized there was enough sand on the floor to make going to the beach unnecessary. There were four lights in the room. Two worked. The bar/dance floor is across the pool from the rooms, and was clearly heard until 3 AM. For late night folks this shouldn't be a problem. For me, well, yes. I was not expecting much, nor did I need much. But a clean room with everything operational, (you know, the basics?) would have been nice. A bit steep for what you get, but, well, it IS Fire Island.

Room Tip: If you want quieter rooms, get them away from the pool.

The hotel is a little run down. Could use a good paint job on the outside. The hotel serves the purpose. Don't expect anything fancy, its a room, with a bed, and shower. Like I said it serves the purpose. Still you get to hang out by the pool, or the beach. Any which way you look at it, your still in fire island. Have fun enjoy the beach!!

The hotel room is tiny, the bed is not very comfortable, and the bathroom is also super tiny. The airconditioning unit is aimed right at the bed, so it made sleeping with the airconditioner on uncomfortable. But you don't go to Fire Island to stay cooped up in your hotel room, so I guess you can forgive the deplorable hotel room, as long as you don't pay more than $100 for it.

What else does this hotel offer? A pool. The pool was nice enough, except that they closed the pool at 6pm - in the summer, when there was a lot of sunshine left. I asked why the pool was closing so early, and the attendant just shrugged his shoulders. He said, "But we open really early in the morning - 10am." 10am?!?!? In the summer? That's what he considers really early?? WOW!! When we got to the pool the next morning at 10am, they would let us sunbathe around the pool but wouldn't let us in the pool. Why? Because the lifeguard hadn't arrived yet.

Finally, they were renovating the Ice Palace, which is the bar that adjoins the hotel. So there were a lot of construction materials around the pool area, which made walking around barefoot an extremely dangerous idea. Also, there was a lot of construction noise, so it made relaxing by the pool quite impossible.

Room Tip: Ask for the "quiet side" of the hotel, which are basically the rooms not facing the pool.

All the other reviews on this hotel sans comments about staff (your 'customer service' experience is sure to vary) everything about the rooms (basic, semi-uncomfortable beds, A/C, smells of bleach (is that a bad thing though....at least they are cleaning), stiff drinks at the bar, pool (drag) shows on the weekends and wild parties at night, you have to adjust your expectations.

The most useful point I can make is if you want a quiet room, you request a room NOT on the pool. (When there are parties scheduled), if don't want to sleep, request a pool side room.

TIP: The managers of the place are as nice to you as you are nice to them. The pool boy Gabe is sweet and adds to the daytime charm that embodies the hotel. Ramon the manager is understanding and passionate about his work and it shows.

This hotel is not located on the beach....rather its a 60-second walk away. None of the rooms really have any views to speak of.

Again you have to take it for what it is. The rooms are expensive in season...$400 a night for a room in July on the weekend for a room that should cost $100 a night....but you have to understand the season is only so long. September is a great month to visit. After labor day the rates are considerably lower, the beach is less crowded and there is little rain to speak of (hurricanes are possible, though).

See you next season!!

Room Tip: 201 is great and has lots of light (its on the queit side, corner room)

At nearly $400 per night we were expecting a little more! The rooms are so basic and reminded me of hostel style accommodation. They were dirty, in need of complete renovation, the sheets did not appear to be fresh, the bed covers and pillows were stained. We spent as little time as possible in the room. Dune point accom far nicer.
