Our weekend away was wonderful thanks to the friendly staff, beautiful room and great surroundings. The dog food in the cupboard was a nice surprise too :)

Pet and people friendly - such a nice change from most places.

The jacuzzi was amazing, and the room is well equipped with all the basics for self-catering too (not that we did!). Ivan was a gem and helped us find a great restaurant and laughed with us at some of my partner's antics!!

Will definitely be back and have raved about it to a number of other friends already

We enjoy the peace and quiet. Our favorite time is to just sit in the
parlor, light the fire, enjoy a bottle of wine and talk -- which is hard to
do in daily life. While our daughter is in school in Westchester, this will
be a regular stop for us.
Because of the time of year, we didn't get to enjoy oputdoor activities. >

We booked the Eagle's Nest for two nights in February and our room rate was $370. We were expecting some luxury and did not find it. The room was out-dated and smelled of the ubiquitous electric scented room fresheners. The gas fire was on a continually clicking timer and needed to be relit every 45 minutes or so as it automatically turned itself off. The television was an old dinosaur without a working remote control, there was no DVD or music system. The kitchen was incredibly poorly equipped, not clean and the previous guest's washing up was still in the dishwasher. We were accompanied each night by scampering (hopefully) mice in the roof space which was disconcerting whilst lying in bed! In short, for the price being charged, this place is a rip-off and should not cost more that $120 - $130 a night - good space, but very poor specification. The location is beautiful and this inn has so much potential to be wonderful. It is such a shame. Bottom line? Stay somewhere else.

What a wonderful getaway! We went because we were allowed to bring our dogs, and it was absolutely fantastic! It was a truly unique experience. Ivan and Ru are two of the nicest people in the world. We plan to go back as soon as we can get some more time away from work :) We would HIGHLY recommend this inn to anyone thinking of going to the Catskills.

Ok, so frist impression of the resort on the actual Inn's website was "Wow, pretty nice but it does seem overpriced"...So my next venture was to look here. I love this site; it has led me to mnay nice vacations knowing what to expect before hand. Now I must say, when I looked at the reviews I thought, well this looks wonderful... The price may be steep but people do seem to love it.

So my boyfriend and I arrived on a Friday night and had plans to stay till Monday. We arrived late due to weather conditions... all in all we just wanted a nice night sleep. We stayed in the "Cottage" and our first impressions of the room were okay. The room itself wasn't as "spaced out" as we had imagined from the looks on the website. But whatever, we decided to just get some sleep...and the bed was tough to sleep in; it was like a plank, not comfortable to any stretch of the imagination and the room was stiffling. The thermostat seemed to be way off. We called Ivan, the owner, and he directed us to "open windows". Not what we were expecting for $310 a night. It would have been nice to have someone come in and look at what the problem was you know just something a service a little more suitable to the price we were paying.

At breakfast the next morning, we woke up a bit late so had to succumb to the "continental breakfast". I could not have been more dissappointed. The display was one small table filled with white bread, a toaster and jams. It seemed as if we were being punished for getting up late. Well, this wasn't the continental breakfast I was imagining since we were paying $310 a night. I have stayed at Days Inn's with nice Continental Breakfasts.

The following morning we made sure to set our alarms and get up with the early risers to have a hot breakfast. During our breakfast 2 other couples came and joined us who were also staying at the resort. We were talking about the price equivicancy to what we were given/staying in with what we had paid. We all agreed it was overpriced. **To my surprise, we were notified by one of the couples that a GRATUITY TAX is added on to your stay at around a flat $60 a day/about 20% of each night's stay**

We were blown away, so our now $310 a night room shoots up to around $370 a night!!! Unreal for what you are actually getting. We left feeling taken advantage of. We even explained our feelings to the supervisor in charge and she acted completely indifferent to our situation; which basically aggrivated us more...All in all, this "getaway" is ideal for people who have nothing to do and just want to hideaway in a cabin/room for a hefty price.

Listen, if the price was more reasonable, say $200 a night or even $250 without the added $60 gratuity then I probably wouldn't have written a review like this.

It's unfortunate it was so expensive...And it's even more unfortunate the management wasn't considerate of our oppinions about the resort.

Our experience was very enjoyable, the country air, back drop of the scenary, as well as the friendliness and hospitality of the Inn. We stayed at the Cottage with our dog (Muffyn) and it was very pet friendly. We especially enjoyed the champagne service with Ice. My husband and I enjoyed the bubbly in front of the fireplace and in the whirlpool tub. The photos on the internet does not do it justice, it was better than I imagine. Although it snowed and I didn't get a chance to sit by the firepit. I was please non the less.

Very graciously and carefully managed. Wonderful full breakfast and deli luncheon provided with other extras thought of by ownership. I felt the accommodations could have been outfitted better, especially in the top suites. Lacking were basic kitchen supplies, and no offer to pre-stock the refrig left us wandering about an unsightly downtown looking for staples well into the evening. Great for dog owners!

The Inn, with working fireplaces, whirlpool baths and private sundecks, is located in Upstate New York on a 250-acre private lake. Like resort lodging, Inn at Lake Joseph provides a variety of summer and winter recreational facilities, including access to a health and fitness spa. But unlike larger hotels, with just 18 guestrooms, a luxurious, yet informal, casual country retreat that assures guests a relaxing, private, rustic mountain lake environment awaits. Very much like the Berkshires, White Mountains, Adirondacks and Poconos, the Catskills surrounding the Inn offer spectacular scenes of lakes and rivers, as well as hiking trails with views of majestic peaks and isolated waterfalls. However, unlike these other regions, The Inn is no more than 2 hours from New York City. ... more   less
