My boyfriend got us a room through Travel Zoo and we spent one night at the Inn. Our stay was lovely. Michelle and the rest of the staff are terrific and we had a relaxing and peaceful two days.

We stayed in the Mallard Room and had a beautiful and spacious room with a fire place and great bathroom. The first floor was cool to explore and we enjoyed the library, the billiard room and the game room. After finding a near-by Italian restaurant with good food, great service and great prices, we came back to the Inn, borrowed Scrabble and retired to our room with a bottle of wine.

The made-to-order breakfast was great and we loved the help-yourself lunch. It's not something I'd pay extra for, but it was included in the room price and it was fun making our own sammies and grabbing some prepared salads and hanging out in the glassed-in veranda.

We were there in the winter so we weren't able to take full advantage of the beautiful grounds, though we took a lovely walk to the Lake and hung out on the lounge chairs discussing our good fortune. We hope to get back during warmer weather to take advantage of all of the outdoor activities they have to offer. This is definitely a great place for a romantic get-away!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mallard Room in The Lodge (main building). It was spacious, quiet and clean with a...

Wife and I spent a snowy wintry weekend with our dog. Idyllic, quite, remote spot; warm, comfy rooms, toasty fireplace, fun whirlpool tub, friendly, welcoming staff, delicious, hearty breakfast. Looking forward to a return visit.

My husband, dog & I had a great weekend at the Inn at Lake Joseph. We came in the middle of winter, so we could not partake in a lot of the activities, but we were able to enjoy the quietness of the property in its entirety. The inn is absolutely adorable and our room, Laurel, was perfect. We had a full kitchen, gas fireplace and very private terrace with lounge chairs & a BBQ. We cooked dinner both nights we were there! Breakfast is served in the main house and great. Lunch is available on your own and the fridge is stocked with deli meats, bread & salads... as well as some desserts & beverages. I would suggest bringing some additional food & beverages for lunch, snacks and dinner as well. We got a couple massage in our room at the recommendation of the Inn which was really nice. The Inn staff was extremely friendly and hospital. Our dog had the best time running off leash in the woods which is something she does not get to do often in the city. She got a little nervous when left alone in a strange place and was barking a little... something to consider since the walls can be thin. My one complaint was that the room was very expensive... particularly for winter when there is very little to do onsite. I would like to come back in the spring/summer, but can't even imagine what the price will be then! Overall, great time and property.

Room Tip: The laurel room is located in the cottage which houses only 2 other rooms. Definitely recommended!

Inn at Lake Joseph is a hidden gem! A quiet rustic Inn where couples, solos, family's can go to relax, unwind and enjoy all of its amenities. Our family of 14 spent a very special weekend at the end of September 2013. Personally, I have been to the Inn, always in September, at least six times and the weather has always been terrific. We enjoyed boating on the lake, hiking the trails, biking, swimming in heated pool, grilling on the deck, evenings around the fire pit, lots of laughs, and always great breakfasts! I have stayed in both the main lodge, carriage house rooms as well as The Cottage rooms and I loved them all. All have partial/full kitchens. Rustic is key word as that is exactly what to expect, especially if one wishes to stay in the Carriage House or Cottage rooms. Any outdoor enthusiast who loves that rustic feel will love it here as well as those who wish to bring their four legged friends! Ivan & Rue are your hosts and they are terrific! Over the years many great memories have been made here, including my son, now almost 21, catching his first fish on Lake Joseph as a youngster as well as myself being a camper when it was Camp St. Joseph's. I highly recommend the Inn at Lake Joseph as your next retreat!

We stayed for the weekend, it was absolutely perfect! Ivan is quite a character! Breakfast was amazing both days, the rooms were very nice. We went down to the lake and took a boat out fishing for the day. Everyone was very nice. I cant wait to go back in the spring! Its so peaceful and quiet. Not to mention a stocked frig and homemade cookies and brownies for late night snacking. You will not be disappointed! There was books and games throughout the B&B and a nice pool table. All guests were great very nice! I would highly recommend this place!

We stayed in the Hemlock room and I cannot express enough how amazing our stay truly was. The bed and linens were top notch (yay Sleep Number), our pet friendly room had no signs of animals ever traipsing through, the robes were warm and a welcomed extra, and the double jetted tub was the cherry on top.
As for the actives, kayaking, billiards, and the 2+ mile hiking trail were just the right amount of exhausting to leave us wanting to run back to the room and sit by the fireplace for a couple hours.
The lunch they serve is has just enough selection to keep everyone happily fed, but breakfast is where the feast is. Between the fresh coffee, mind blowing jams, fluffy waffles, and loaded omelettes they left every person wanting for nothing.

We cannot wait to go back.

Room Tip: There are 3 main houses on the large piece of property with the silver level rooms in the main build...

I can't say enough about this inn. It has the warmth, comfort, and beauty of a rich grandmothers country estate, while offering the hospitality of a 4 star hotel. From the moment you drive up the long driveway to the inn, you are embraced with tranquility.

We stayed for 2 nights during the week. We stayed in the inn itself and had a whirlpool, fireplace and deck which overlooked the property of lawn and woods. The view was breath taking, not to mention the sweetness of the numerous deer grazing below our 2 Nd floor deck at dusk and dawn. The room was cozy, comfortably appointed and clean. The bathroom is small but adequate, well lit with high quality bath soaps , oils, and plush robes. The water was piping hot and pressure perfect. The sleep number bed was a dream and the room temperature perfect. We went to sleep with the gas fireplace on as it has a one hour turn off.

The plentiful common rooms are large, cozy, with comfortably worn furnishings including tons of books, chairs and tables for respite in front of the numerous fireplaces.

The hospitality kitchen is a true plus. 24 hour coffee, tea both hot and iced, water and snacks is wonderful. It includes bread, salads and cold cuts for lunch or that midnight snack.

The sun room breakfast porch is just lovely with all around views of the well kept property. The food delicious and the service just right.

The lake is about a 3 minute walk and the path is lovely. The lake is just amazing.

We didn't do much except lounge on our deck with coffee or wine and relax in the whirlpool with wine we had pizza delivered for dinner. Just what the doctor ordered. Restaurants are a drive but definitely accessible.

I can't finish this review without mentioning Michele. She was the most amazing hostess, sweet , accommodating and efficient. She is the icing on the cake at this most comforting and relaxing respite. We did not want to leave !

The Inn, with working fireplaces, whirlpool baths and private sundecks, is located in Upstate New York on a 250-acre private lake. Like resort lodging, Inn at Lake Joseph provides a variety of summer and winter recreational facilities, including access to a health and fitness spa. But unlike larger hotels, with just 18 guestrooms, a luxurious, yet informal, casual country retreat that assures guests a relaxing, private, rustic mountain lake environment awaits. Very much like the Berkshires, White Mountains, Adirondacks and Poconos, the Catskills surrounding the Inn offer spectacular scenes of lakes and rivers, as well as hiking trails with views of majestic peaks and isolated waterfalls. However, unlike these other regions, The Inn is no more than 2 hours from New York City. ... more   less
