What a lovely place. Very comfortable bed, quiet (apart from cicadas!) wonderful location, fantastic continental breakfast and complimentary homemade chocolate cookies. The only very minor problems we had: a bed for our son had not been set up in the room despite booking a room for 3 - not ideal arriving late with a sleeping child- sorted out very quickly. Only other strange thing was when tidying the room they took my pyjamas from under the pillow and threw them in the corner of the room! Very small things that did not detract from the overall positive experience. Lots of outdoors pursuits in the area - we spent the day in the beautiful Mohonk Reserve.

My husband and I and two of our adult children recently returned from a three night stay at Minnewaska. We spent most days hiking at Minnewaska State Preserve, which is five miles from the lodge. If you're going to Gardiner to hike, this location can't be beat. Rooms were smallish, but we didn't spend that much time in them. Breakfast was plenty filling. Nice to be able to sit out on the covered porch or at the fire pits when we ate and enjoy the stunning view of the cliffs. I'm not a fan of the surcharges because the room charge isn't inexpensive, but I would go again because of the lovely setting and proximity to the Preserve. Brauhaus across the street serves delicious German food.

We recently stayed at the lodge and we had pleasant experience with the staff, amenities and location. I'll list the pros and cons below:

PROS
1. Location - very close to New Paltz, Minnewaska State park, Stony Kill etc.
2. Bed - super comfy! Excellent nights sleep
3. Staff- were super friendly and helpful.
4. Continental breakfast- Good variety of cereals, breads, fruit, eggs, drinks. Plus cozy area to sit and eat inside or outside on their deck or back yard.
5. Great back yard and deck with nice view of the mountain.
6. All the amenities you will need in the room from small fridge, hair dryer, iron, body creams, scrubs, good selection of towels and bottled water.
7. Small but sufficient fitness room
8. Fire pits in the backyard for evening hangouts and meet fellow hotel guests.
9. Nice size TV

CONS
1. Thin walls, you will hear everything next door and above you.

The rooms were small but we were happy with it. Why need a larger room when we're outside having fun most of the time and only there to sleep?

Such a picturesque place! Rooms are large and very clean! I would recommend a room with a covered balcony, as it is nice to sit outside. The lady at the front desk, Crystal, was very helpful and gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations. We couldn't be happier!

This hotel was amazing from the moment we stepped in. Super comfy bed, big and clean room with a very updated bathroom, fresh breakfast spread with pineapple, canteloupe, granola, crumb cake, quiche, what more is there to say? Get a room with a balcony facing the cliffs if you can. It is so peaceful and you can watch the sunset (it faces west). The service was excellent too. Patrick, the asst mgr, greeted us on the first day and gave us helpful hiking trails. And they have yummy delicious chocolate chip cookies right in the lobby all the time (great midnight snack). When we checked out, they put out some pumpkin choco chip ones too! My husband and I had a fabulous 3 night stay and can't wait to go back!! Hmm, maybe add some hot tubs near the fire pits out back too, Patrick?

Room Tip: Balcony with Cliff Facing views - a must!

I was up in the Catskills for a business retreat and wanted to stay one more day just to explore. I was so grateful to call the Minnewaska Lodge and find that they had a room available. The rooms are a good size, very clean and we had an intense "cliff view" outside our back deck. The breakfast spread was just what we were looking for including fresh fruts, granola, and they even had hard boiled egss! The girl at the front desk was more than helpful in recomendations on what hiking trails best suited us, the best places to eat in town and she just had a genuine interest in chatting with us. This was a perfect option for me and my friend and I look forward to many visits back!

This lodge is lovely, a great cross between a hotel and a bed and breakfast. The staff is very friendly. The room is very clean and comfortable. Plus they have the best chocolate chip cookies in the lobby. The free breakfast is very continental but they have wonderful granola. The view from both our room and the great room is spectacular. We also found the Lodge conveniently located to other attractions on the area that we wanted to visit. We are very happy.
