“Great hosts, great food, beautiful B&B”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

My wife and I just returned from a fabulous extended shopping and getaway weekend at The William Smith Inn. Dave and Theresa are among the most welcoming, informative and FUN hosts we have ever had at a B&B (and we have stayed at many). Geneva is a very pretty town with lots to see and do ... great places to dine, tour and hike. I highly recommend this B&B !!

Room Tip: We stayed in The Miller room, but I'm sure all rooms are as large, well appointed and CLEAN as o...

This is a beautifully restored Inn and Theresa takes care of everything to make your stay fantastic.
Rooms are beautifully decorated, bathroom amenities are high end and the breakfasts perfect. Theresa provides you with great info about the Inn and the area. It is like being at home except some one else cooks, cleans and takes care of all your concerns. Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: We had the William Smith Suite on the 2nd floor which is great for two friends travelling together...

My husband and I booked a weekend at the William Smith Inn to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Theresa, who gave us a tour of the space. We stayed in the Sturtevant room. The room was clean and warmly decorated, complete with a fireplace. Guests have access to a living room, dining room, and full service kitchen as well. There is also a nice porch on the side of the home to sit and enjoy some sunshine. We appreciated the historic character of the home, which David and Theresa did a wonderful job at restoring.

When we walked into our room the second night there, we found a nice note and gift from David and Theresa (celebrating our anniversary). The gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated! The warm touches made the experience all the more enjoyable. My husband and I are so glad we stayed at this B & B instead of a hotel. David and Theresa were wonderful hosts and were helpful in giving us information on local attractions/restaurants.

I would recommend the William Smith Inn to anyone looking to have a quiet getaway!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sturtevant room, which is located on the first floor of the home, by the main entra...

Theresa, the Innkeeper, is the sweetest person. Before meeting her in person, she helped us plan our entire trip to the Finger lakes. All her recommendations were great! The William Smith only had one room left, and we needed two, so we had our friends stay with them. Even though we didn't stay overnight, she invited us over for breakfast!!!!

Our friends told us they had a lovely time there. The next morning we went to visit the Inn and the place was BEAUTIFUL! From their driveway to the interior of the Inn, everything was out of a home decor magazine.

What a great place to come and enjoy a vacation! We felt welcomed from the 1st phone conversation and it only got better once we arrived! This historic house has been tastefully updated without loosing the historic feel. Our shower and bathroom was awesome, we stayed in the Statesman room, and had loads of space. Breakfast was our choice of the dining room or outside on the nice porch. They had a full fridge in the common area kitchen that worked out perfectly for us to store a bottle of wine and some leftovers from the days lunch. Seneca, their dog, was the best: friendly and loving yet didn't pester you unless you called him. Dave and Theresa go above and beyond expectations in making one feel at home and being helpful with tourist info!

Room Tip: the floor was creeky, so if spouse is a light sleeper you may wake them if going to bathroom.

The William Smith Inn met our expectations the moment we booked our reservation. However, our expectations were EXCEEDED the moment we arrived and met David and Theresa. These proprietors are the example every innkeeper should meet.
We were met at the property by David and he was very welcoming. He told about the history of The William Smith Inn, William Smith & Hobart Colleges and Geneva as he showed us the home and property.
Our upstairs, Stateman, room was phenomenal. There was absolutely nothing more we could have asked for. The keeping room supplied us with a refridgerator and all the kitchen needs we could imagine for any bottles of wine and blocks of cheese for our evenings on the front porch after a day of winery tours.
The breakfasts were wonderful. There was yogurt, granola, fruit, bagels, quiche, juice, coffee ... pretty much any thing you wanted, Theresa was there to make certain your desires were met.
Theresa is the quintessential hostess. She is there exactly when you think you want something, but she isn't overbearing by being there all the time. Her home is your home. She immediately wants her guests to be comfortable and free to enjoy the WSI. If you think you have met her when you book your room ~~ just wait. She is absolutely PHENOMENAL.
There are so many positive things to say about this inn and the innkeepers. The moment you speak with Theresa you know you are welcome. Once you arrive at The William Smith Inn, you know you are at HOME.
We will never stay anywhere else when we visit the Finger Lakes.

Room Tip: We loved the upstairs Statesman Room.

We were celebrating my sister's birthday and had been looking forward to this trip for some time. Well, it exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrived at this beautiful B&B, it was magical. Theresa was there to greet us and couldn't have been more helpful. Her recommendations for dinner and other activities were outstanding. The room was great. It's hard to find a great room at a B&B that works for 3 people. The room we stayed in was really 2 bedrooms. It was amazing and so nicely decorated. Breakfast was also delicious and couldn't have been better. Theresa, you made our celebration extra special and I hope to return next year. Thanks again for everything.
