Excellent wines to taste are combined with local cheeses and/or chocolates. Pairings are excellent as are the wines by themselves. European style wines with much attention paid to when to harvest to avoid over-ripened grapes or green, early grapes. Tasting hosts are very knowledgable about the vineyards, the winery operation and methods used in producing the world class wines. Definitely worth a stop when visiting the area!

Making good wine in the Finger Lakes area of NY State has always been difficult, mainly because of the extremes of the climate but also perhaps because of the choices of grape variety and wine styles of earlier generations. This is beginning to change thanks to a new generation of talented winemakers. Ravines is a good place to start to taste the results of their efforts. My satnav took me to the wrong end of Barrack Road. You need to enter from Pre-emption road, not White Spring lane.
There are some good wines here including a superb 2012 dry Reising, excellent Gewurztraminer and a very good Meritage. There are knowledgeable staff to help you understand what you are tasting. I was impressed and bought a case. The kitchen was closed, unfortunately. Whilst you are in the area, don't forget also to visit some of the other young revolutionaries at Anthony Road wines, Fox Run, Red Newt, Red Tail Ridge and Kemmeter Wines.

Very nice Cab Franc. Worth the trip just to try. Be warned they are off a dirt road that looks like a driveway, but drive down and find a pretty little tasting room with helpful staff, though they seemed a bit understaffed for a Saturday afternoon and not horribly crowded.

We had a lot of trouble finding this winery but ventured to it after reading reviews on it. We tasted a couple of wines and most were very nice but just didn't get the friendliness you usually get at wineries.. Maybe it was just an off day. We visited on a Sunday and it wasn't busy.

Our experience at this winery didn't start out as well as we would have liked, as we ended up there on a day that there were busloads of organized wine tours attending. Aside from it being quite loud and rowdy, we were having a hard time finding a place at the tasting bar, and were asked by one older gentleman working behind the bar to please move out of his way. What saved the experience for us, was a nice young man (whose name I now can't remember).. he offered to have us sit out on the deck, and he would look after us. It was a bit cool to be doing that in November but we appreciated his attention. Once the room emptied out and we were able to move inside, we had a very nice conversation with him re the winery and the wines offered. We were looking for a wine to pair with our Christmas turkey and left with a wonderful Pinot Noir. Our suggestion to the owner/manager would be that if you are going to entertain groups on a Sunday afternoon, you might want to close the facility to the general public. I would rather find that out, than have a bad experience. We will definitely go back next time we are in the Finger Lakes.
