We had a wonderful stay at the Mountain View Retreat. Patricia, our hostess, was fantastic. We felt very much at home. The B&B is very secluded with walking trails, and a view of the Catskills. The breakfasts were excellent. Our room was roomy and very comfortable. We had a wonderful time. Will stay again.

Our family atttended our daughter's graduation weekend activities at Bard College and we stayed at a fabulous nearby B&B, Patiicia Heller's Mountain View Retreat. Everything about the b&b; sleeping accommodations, room appointments, common area for relaxation, sumptuous breakfasts with organic foods, delicious coffee and tea, inexhaustible orange juice, choice of french toast, sunflower seed bread, specialty herbed eggs, fresh fruit, you name it!

Patricia is a terrific hostess, capable of engaging in just about any conversational topic with interesting anecdotes from of her own personal experience. She is a woman of numerous talents including a published author on healing, a wonderful singer (she accompanied a guitar playing friend of ours. If you'd like time to yourself in the outdoors, the b&b has many well maintained scenic walking trails covering dozens of acres.

For meals other than breakfast (and fridge raiding) there are some very good nearby restaurants (a japanese one was a particular favorite for us). Patricia has an excellent housekeeper who keeps the b&b very clean and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending Patricia's b&b as an excellent and relaxing place to stay in a beautiful semi rustic setting. If your plan on staying in Germantown, Rheinbeck, Redhook and the surronding environ, make the Mountain View Retreat your first choice!

Hi my new darling Alaska friends,

Thank you for the lovely reviews. You shouldn't have told about raiding the refrigerator, only you have ever been allowed! Hope all is going well and you are refreshed from the long trip home.

Love, Patricia

Not only is this B&B beautifully furnished inside w/ art & elegant furniture, the extensive acreage provides hours of peaceful walking on wooded paths. This B&B is luxurious with comfortable beds and marvelous food served on formal settings designed to please the eye as well as the palate. The serenity of the B&B and its surrounding land make this a true retreat and the sense of being "at home" which Patricia Heller graciously extends make this a rejuvenating stay. Patricia is an entertaining & interesting host, not to mention a wonderful singer. If you happen to have a musical instrument with you see if you can persuade her to join in singing. We did and had a marvelous time of it!

Patricia Heller is a wonderful host. The accommodations were comfortable, breakfast was tasty but, most important, I never felt more at home in a B&B.

My boyfriend and I stayed with Patricia Heller at A Mountain View Retreat. We went hiking during the day at Bear Mountain. Patricia recommended a lovely French place for dinner in the center of Rhinebeck at Le Petite Bistro. Rhinebeck is a quick drive down the road and it is a quant small town with cute little shops, flea markets and cafes.

We really enjoyed our stay with Patrica. The house is very secluded off the main highway in a heavy forest. It has a great view of the local mountains and a swing to relax in. The house was warm, tidy and inviting. It had a fireplace, a very cozy bedroom and beautiful decor. We also enjoyed singing Karaoke and Tarot card readings with Patricia! This is a small, intimate B&B. Great for young couples or friendly travelers.

My trip to New York to attend a special event at the Omega Institute was fantastic because of being able to come back and stay at Patricia's B & B. I took a walk in the woods, relaxed in the hammock and a couple of days later experienced a magnificent lightning show from the big comfy bed in the deluxe suite. Patricia is highly entertaining and I enjoyed her company very much. She's also a great cook and knows all the great places to eat in the area! Like one other guest suggests - Patricia is reason enough to stay at A Mountain View Retreat!

When I emailed to ask if there was room for three of us during on a Bard family weekend, the reply I received was "are you lucky!" Patricia Heller meant we were lucky that she had the rooms but actually we were just plain lucky.

The house does not look especially large or interesting (like Dr Who's Tardis) but once you step inside it's another story. This is a very comfortable place with a large sitting room, cozy corners and both a fireplace and wood burning stove. The bedrooms are spacious and decorated in old world opulence. The facilities are immaculate. Stressed and jetlagged from a London flight, I spent an afternoon reading on a rocking, leather comfy chair. We had our 16 year old son with us and were in a kind of family suite arrangement with two bedrooms and a shared bath in splendid isolation. Ideal!

Just as delightful was Patricia herself. She couldn't do enough for us yet never intruded. When we wanted to work or read by the fire she was invisible yet her warm welcome and interesting conversation made the place feel like home. She is an outstanding cook. Every breakfast was different and delicious and even our son had plenty to eat. She gave us tea and pastries when we arrived and sent us on our way with succulent pears. Dinner reservations were made for us and our pillows fluffed. She also saved us from potentially missing our flight back to London by alerting us to a coming snow storm. In short, Patricia Heller is an incredible host. She is justifiably proud of this wonderful retreat. Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: They are all lovely and different.
