We stayed one night at the Glen Cove Mansion. It was more expensive than we would have preferred, but our room & the facility were lovely. The room is well equipped - safe, internet, ironing board. The staff were friendly & helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent - good selection. The only downside was hearing the kids running up & down the hall.

We stayed overnight on a Christmas trip. It was barely acceptable for one night; I would not have wanted to stay longer. The Mansion, itself, is very beautiful. The rooms - not so much. As others have pointed out, the rooms are not in the Mansion. Rather, they are a brief walk away out in back and, surprisingly, no better than a cheap Travelodge room. Our room had a gross smell upon entry which was coming from the bathroom. The bathroom walls are moldy and literally rotting and peeling from moisture that has no where to go due to lack of venting. It was not very clean either. (I just hate finding hair.) The rooms are very dated. The carpet is worn and stained. The door rattles. The amenities are sparse and you get exactly 2 towels. Others in the hallway sound like they could be in your room. The beds are very, very comfy, however, and the linens were clean and crisp. The front desk clerk was also very nice. That was a definite plus. I would pay about $100 to stay here for a night if I had nowhere else to go and needed a room. Otherwise, just no.

From the drive up to the front door we encountered problems. They had a sign for valet parking so we pulled up and the attendant came over to give us a ticket. When he realized that we were checking in he said "sorry, the valet parking is only for the party". So we had to carry our own bags and park the car ourselves. When we checked in we were given a map to our room, it was not even in the mansion. Actually none of the sleeping rooms are. It was such a hike to even get to the room...I would say a good 1/4 mile. Elevators are almost non-existent. We decided to have lunch at the pub which is actually in the mansion. Again no elevators. The pub is on the 3rd floor in the attic. The A/C in the pub was not working and it was extremely hot. It took 45 minutes to get a burger. I was staying for a family wedding and in between the festivities the group would meet at the pub. I have asthma and could not take another climb up the stairs so I felt that I missed out on quality social time with the family.

The rooms were decent but as I said they were not in the mansion but in extensions that were added on. So basically it was like staying at a Holiday Inn...but at least they have elevators.

For the price of this hotel I expected so much more.

Just returned from a wonderful wonderful weekend at the Mansion. Having grown up in nearby Douglaston, this place is the best kept secret on Long Island. I hosted a surprise 80th birthday party for my mom. From the moment we all arrived until the moment we all left, EVERYONE had a superb experience. The pub was enjoyable, we were surprised to find racquetball courts, tennis, ping pong and an exercise room. Their recommendation for a nearby restaurant for dinner was excellent on Friday night. On Saturday the entire family had a terrific breakfast buffet, then enjoyed the beautiful grounds and outdoor pool. There is a public golf course just a few miles away, a few of us played a round early Saturday morning. We had poolside pub service for lunch. The grounds were beautiful, well manicured, perfect for relaxing and visiting. We had a professional photographer arrive Saturday evening and got some great family shots in their garden area. Thirty of us enjoyed a delicious dinner on Saturday night, the food was magnificent, the service was outstanding. The director of catering did a superb job from start to finish! Frank Sinatra adorned the cake which was a fantastic end to a great night. The breakfast buffet each morning was more than we ever expected, simply delicious and very plentiful. The mansion is beautiful as was the banquet room for our gathering. The hotel rooms themselves were adequate, nothing extravagant but certainly clean and acceptable to us all. We had several adjoining rooms and they were able to keep us all in the same wing, so they made our family weekend an affair to remember. I received numerous praises from many in attendance this past weekend, how wonderful everything was every minute of every day. We all had such a grand time we are planning to do it again! The location is perfect for us, we felt as if we were at a fine resort as we enjoyed all the weekend activities. We will be back! Thanks to all at the GCM for making Mom's 80th birthday such a spectacular event for us.

We stayed at Glen Clove Manor for one of the many weddings that take place there. The location, and grounds, is gorgeous. The exterior of the mansion, and the amenities are nice for a hotel. It has a pub, with pool tables and shuffle boards, open to the wee hours on the top floor, a bowling alley, and pools.

However, the area people stay in is not the mansion. An annex built in the 60's juts out behind the mansion. Obviously not remodeled in a long time, the rooms are a bit drab. When the air conditioning is not on, it wreaks of mold. With the number of weddings that go on at the place, you know they are making a killing financially, but you wonder if they were putting it back in the place. The people working there were nice enough, but it still would have nice for things to be fixed. Our tub drain needed to be cleaned and despite the phone call and another conversation with the front desk, it was not fixed, and the water would quickly go up to mid-shin. I am not sure if there are other places in Glen Cove. If there were, I might check it out before staying at the Mansion.

Although the grounds are lovely and the mansion itself is grand, the hallways and our room were dreary and uninviting. The rooms are all housed in outbuilding that are a walk of several minutes from the mansion. After crossing a lovely patio, we were disappointed to find a uninspiring, dark hallway that led to our room several steps below grade. The room itself was fine, although the view from the first floor window was of the parking lot. Upon entering the room for the first time, I checked out the bathroom and was shocked to find the bathroom sink covered with dirt and silt (see photo). We changed quickly for our event, but stopped by the front desk to request additional towels (they provided only 2 for 2 people) and to ask that the bathroom be cleaned. While the front desk clerk was shocked by the photo of the filthy sink that I showed her, the manager looked over her shoulder and scoffed, disbelievingly, "It was like that when you checked in?" I assured him that it was, but apparently this was of no concern. When we returned to our room 6 hours later, the towels were there - and so was the filth in the sink (see second photo). When we checked out this morning, they didn't even ask whether we'd enjoyed our stay.

Side note - the pub was enjoyable, with a good bartender and beverage selection.
