We were there in Dec 2009. Camp was very run down. Not good management. Hardly any choice on food and drinks. Had ceiling fans in rooms but no power after 9pm. Was to hot to sleep at night. The boat didn't arrive on time to pic us up. Made us wait for hours in the sun. On arrival there was no lunch organized etc. Staff complain that the owner refused to give the necessary funds etc. to run the place properly.

We would like to thank all the staff at Tiger Bay for a truly wonderful holiday. Great food, perfect location and wonderful staff. We were a large group (23 of us) from all over the world spending some time together after our wedding, and we all had a great time. So wonderful to go somewhere where no request is a problem and where the staff will go out of their way to make the adults & the children happy! We would highly recommend Tiger Bay to anyone looking for a wonderful time on Lake Kariba.

We stayed over New Year, and really loved the romantic setting of the resort, the fishing + bird-watching opportunities, or just chilling out by the pool or near our room. I caught my first 4 fish ever (a real thrill) and deepened my tan. The room's aren't lavish, but the mosquito nets work and the beds are quite comfortable, (although some rooms nearer neighbouring properties have to suffer the noise of their big generator). The scenery is truly magnificent and the waiters and game-drivers are really kind and helpful.

The problem is, the owner hasn't invested in the place and the staff are demoralised. The generator is too small for a resort with over a dozen chalets, and the chalets themselves need an upgrade. The gardens are over-grown and (as if by magic...) a gardener only appeared on the day the owner's daughter came to stay... The game-drive truck broke down once with teenagers having to walk back through the bush where lions are, as did the boat. The chef went AWOL on New Year's eve and the chap who had been on his feet all day cooking had to be brought back... To be fair, he and his team produced a fabulous spread but it was clear that it was all touch and go for a while.

The staff deserve much MUCH more support from the owners than they get currently, and much more money to help turn what is a beautifully located resort into the perfect holiday retreat.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the neighbouring properties are not disturbed by their generators

I stayed at Tiger Bay Lodge in Kariba for five nights in September 2012, with my partner, toddler and Mum-in-law. This was my first visit to Zimbabwe, and the Tiger Bay Lodge proved to be an oasis. The location was spectacular, we saw lots of game at dusk going to the lake shore for water. The accommodation was comfortable and clean, and some of the a-frames were being re-thatched whilst we were there. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the staff were attentive and considerate given the demands of a toddler. The lodge provides excellent value for money, and I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending it to friends and family in both Australia and UK.

My daughter, Sarah got married at Tiger Bay on the 7th July 2012. We hired the Zambezi Trader to sleep 50 guests and Tiger Bay hosted the remaining 35 guests. The setting and ambience made such a wonderful background to a truly African bush wedding. Jonathan and Sarah's photo's were done on the shorelines of the Ume River, such a superb back drop, no props needed. The hotel fed all the guests, Friday night was a Mongolian Braai under the African stars. The weather was warm and comfortable even at the beginning of July. All round a very special week end. This was my first trip to Zimbabwe. I must admit it was spectacular. I attended my brother and new sister in laws wedding reception at Tiger Bay Lodge. It was marvellous and the scenery was superb. I will definitely recommend this lodge to any one visit Kariba, Zimbabwe. You are able to experience natural all around in a comfortable setting. The chalets are all river facing which makes for a wonderful morning.

We recently visited Tiger Bay Lodge on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe, to attend my son's wedding reception. This venue is truly idyllic. It offers unique accommodation and leisure facilities and boasts a sense of calm and tranquility that can only be found in the African bush. The staff's efficiency and welcoming attitude, together with the general surroundings, wildlife viewing and fishing opportunities truly make Tiger Bay Lodge a very special destination.
