Lovely hotel, clean and location perfect for what we wanted. On arrival we were informed that our room had been moved and what a lovely surprise, overlooking the river was just perfect.
It is a short walk into the town with many shops and restaurants to enjoy. Overall a lovely stay would definitely go back, and very close to Thorpe park.

Room Tip: If your going to Thorpe park perfect hotel to stop over.

Booked our stay via Thorpe Breaks. After a long ride we were really tired but the earliest check-in time was stated with 2 pm. We asked at the reception and they were able to find us a room at 10 am. Although it was in the old part of the Hotel and an old fashioned room that could use a bit of refurbishment we were very happy. Free parking and good english breakfast.

I booked 2 nights fri & sat night in June via Thorpe breaks to include 1 day entry to Thorpe park ...for myself and my son. We went by train & perfect location for this method of transport .Swift check in. Room 24 ..had large shared balcony outlook onto river really pleased as that's where we first went as soon as in room . Stepped back in room to look around only to see a trail of cigarette butts around end of bed!! Called reception and staff quickly sorted thank goodness but was a bit disappointed that something like that is allowed to happen . Overall room good, large bathroom, tv and all we needed for 2 nights. Great night sleep on Friday trains from nearby line did not bother us. Spent a long tiring day at Thorpe park on the Saturday , easily accessible from bus station just over the road .had something to eat , needing to relax with tv on the night only to discover a very loud wedding party/ disco directly underneath us in the restaurant . So loud it was going to be impossible to get an early night ...phoned reception , advised never told about this when checked in ..they said would turn it down , still didn't go down asked for manager ..he came to room( me in nightclothes bit embarrassing) said hotel full can't move us ...we had been booked in since February ...bad organisation that they did not think to allocate us somewhere away from the party when one of the guests attending would clearly have been better staying in our room !!! Manager called room phone shortly after agreeing to refund our nights stay... Which obviously I was grateful for but it didn't alter the fact that it spoilt our weekend away , it's not what u want when u go somewhere for a break . Anyway that said and if they had had forethought the hotel is fine ..I personally enjoyed the buffet style breakfast , plenty of choice and always being replenished . Staying at another Mercure later in the year...so it hasn't put me off too much.

I stayed at the hotel as part of a package with thorpe park tickets, booked via the Thorpe Breaks website (just over £60 per person for two days in Thorpe Park and one night in a twin room there including breakfast) so it was fantastic value with that deal.

Its a great location for the thorpe park shuttle bus 950 which is £3.70 return and it stops at Staines bus station which is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

Its also a fantastic location as the hotel is on the riverside and has a small beer garden right next to the river which is lovely, you see rowers going past a lot. There are also a few restaurants/pubs within a short walk along a river, including a world buffet, an indian restaurant, an italian restaurant, a slug and lettuce bar I think and a pleasant pub on the other side of the river. Its also a short walk to the centre of staines with a shopping centre etc.

The rooms are smart with a modern finish and some comfy chairs. I found the bathroom smart and functional although small. The shower on the wall wasn't very powerful but there was also a showerhead attached to the bath in our room, so you could have a more powerful shower.

The breakfast was good with a range of breads, fruit, cereals teas etc as well as buffet cooked breakfasts. There is a lovely conservatory-type breakfast room with views of the river and also a separate bar area, as well as another restaurant room.

I was expecting that we would probably be given a room with a rubbish view as we booked on the cheap deal and didn't specifically request any type of room. However I was glad to discover we had been given a river-view room on the top floor. I wouldn't pay extra for the river view on the top floor as you could only see the river when standing at the window and to one side, however on the ground and first floors they have rooms with little balconies/terraces onto the riverside so they would be lovely (more expensive I imagine). About half the rooms do have views of a busyish road so definitely ask fora river view if this bothers you.

All round, a great alternative to a premier inn-type of hotel, in a great location especially for thorpe park.

Dear Sleepfan,

The view is stunning as well especially on a nice sunny day with a lot of activities going on the river.
