My husband and I stayed at the Byblos from June 1-6,2014. Although rooms are a little dated, we had a wonderful stay. The staff was very accommodating. we had a micro and fridge in room. Comfortable beds. Would have liked screens on sliding doors tro appreciate the cool night air. Would stay here again. Would like to see it spiffed up a little but gor great price and enjoyed the Island. The food at the restaurant was great. Had good breakfasts. Also, had food one night at the bar and took back to room Great wings. Would have liked room service every night, and would be great bonus.

Room Tip: ask for the east side rooms very nice

The room was organised by L&L Tours for one night.

The ambiance was not that great! A big hotel with good amenities but confused layout leading to confusing approach.

The bed proved itchy. The front office people were very helpful in supporting our requirements.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel entirely.

We stayed here while at a baseball tournament for my son. First appearance it seems nice enough. However hallways are cramped with really low ceilings. The balcony is very small and was covered with bugs and cobwebs. we wanted to watch the fireworks but couldn't even stay out there because it was so gross. Housekeeping needs improved. Beds and pillow were comfortable. The hotel seems to be in the middle of no where but if you can get a view of the water then it is way better. The pools and fitness room are good. One thing we had to pay tolls everytime we left the "resort" - only a bucks but kind of a pain. No where to eat closeby unless you want Tim Hortons and Wendy's.

This hotel has some nice amenities such as a indoor pool and hot tub as well as an outdoor pool. The view of the river is great if you get a room that looks toward the river. there is a golf course kitty corner from the hotel that you can golf for 75.00 with a cart.(it is a private course). They have a band every friday night out on the lawn in front of the river so that was nice. it was nice to watch all the nice boats going up and down the river. Now as for the rooms. they are just ok. They do have flat screen tv's but they do not have refridgeraters or microwaves in any of the rooms except the sixth floor rooms, which is very surprising for a room that costs what it does. The hotel appears nice on the outside but the inside is very old and dated. There are places where the carpet is peeling up and ceiling tiles around vending machines are missing. I heard maintenance conversations on walkie talkies talking about leaking roofs and removing buckets where water is leaking in. there are only 2 ice machines for a hotel that has 249 rooms so if you check in friday be sure to fill your coolers right away as there will be no ice by 5 pm and the rest of the week end. you can get ice at the front desk but is a little bag of ice and you get one. We were there for a youth bowling tournament so there were people that stayed in and around the buffalo area and our hotel was at the upper end of pricing with only the view as the benefit over others. I would not stay there again for the price of 129.00. it is at best a 89.00 a night hotel compared to other hotels I have stayed at and to what you can get in the area. I can't say it was great but I cant say it was terrible, The price just does not match the quality of the rooms and ammenities. Oh and by the way you can rent microwaves and refridgerators for 10.00 a night each from the front desk. what a joke. There are better choices in the area. It might be good for a wedding since the view is nice

Room Tip: get a room facing the river with no obstructions

We stayed 2 nights and 4 days after arriving home woke up with horrible bites on us. Several members of our party who also stayed here found bugs in their bedding which the manager and housekeeping verified as bedbugs. When we called Byblos to tell them of our bites, they acted as if they couldn't care less. We will never stay there again!!!

Dear Barb K.,

Thank you for your recent post to Trip Advisor. We do take every comment, both good and bad, seriously. I apologize for the issue with the bugs in your room. When we found out on the last day of the 4 day stay, we acted swiftly to have the rooms exterminated and adjusted the cost of the stay for the inconvenience. The local County Health Department also thoroughly inspected all 4 rooms and found no evidence of the 'major infestation' that was reported. Unfortunately, these bugs can travel in with anyone and have become more common throughout the United States. We are not immune to problem, nor are any hotels or places that host large numbers of guests and work closely with our staff to watch for any signs that they have been brought in.
Again, our apologies and please be assured that we do investigate and act on every complaint about such a serious matter.
Cordially,
Scott S.

I stayed at this hotel over the 4th of July weekend with my husband, 2 year old son and extended family. Bedbugs were found in all four of our hotel rooms on the day of check out. Management and housekeeping were brought into the rooms and shown the bugs and we did not pay for the rooms. Several days later in our home state, my son woke up completely covered in red swollen bites. They covered his arms, legs, face, fingers, toes, even his ears. Apparently the bed bugs had come home in our suitcase. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager. The manager was completely unsympathetic and said that there was no way to know that it came from their hotel. When I explained that bed bugs had been found in our room and that we were certain it came from them, the manager claimed she was unaware of the problem. Figuring that both management and housekeeping had been made aware of the problems and seen the actual bugs I can only assume that she was either lying or the hotel is doing nothing to eradicate the bedbugs.
I am angry and disgusted at both the conditions of this hotel and their reaction. I can not discourage people strongly enough to stay away from this establishment. It has cost me hours of time and money to try and rid my home of these disgusting bugs; nevermind the fact that I have a two year old completely covered is swollen red bites.

Dear Neil D,

Thank you for your recent comments on your stay at Byblos. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused by the bugs that were reported on the last day of your 4 day stay. I wish we had been aware of the problem sooner so that we could have acted more quickly.
Please be assured that we have taken your comments seriously and had the rooms mentioned in this post as well as another post by another family member, treated and re-inspected by the local health department. No sightings or evidence were noted on that inspection. We unfortunately are in the same position as every other hotel, apartment building, theatre or airline; having to cope with the growing problem and training our staff on how to recognize the problem. I did note that our front desk agent did make a significant adjustment to your bill for the inconvenience.
Again our apologies,
Cordially,
Scott S

Exceeded my low expectations after reading reviews. This could be restored to be a gem, but they have polishing around the edges to complete. 2 nights with a group of 100. Staff is accommodating, management needs to pay attention to the details. Breakfast items were basic, need to work on replenishing utensils quicker. Hotel is dated, huge lobby lacks ambiance, Very understaffed in the kitchen. Located right on the water, nice view.

Room Tip: The rooms on the river side are picturesque.
