I have been to both places and find no difference in the food. Outstanding Porterhouse and good to very good sides.
Great burger at a reasonable price for lunch during the week

This one was my preferred steakhouse for many years. Unfortunately no longer.
The steaks are ok, not always tender and juicy. Well I got older yet nearby restaurants are better by far. Common guys you can do it!

I only had Lugers once in Brooklyn about 10 years ago and though it was good but not phenomenal. This time went with 2 friends who never had it and was told it was amazing and therefore had high expectations and expected to be disappointed. They were NOT disappointed. We all felt the steaks were amazing and exceeded expectations. Also the service was spot on; can't understand the complaints about service elsewhere on review sites. Waiter was friendly and meticulous and took great care of us. Sides and appetizers all very good but you come here for the steak which was perfect. It's expensive but worth the price.

I have to been to just about every steak house in NYC and I have never encountered such rudeness in my life. Peter Luger needs to take a course in customer service!

Made reservations for a party of 20 for a birthday celebration only to find out that we would be seated in two tables of 10, which is fine, but on the opposite sides of the restaurant - that makes for a great celebration? Have you ever heard of a restaurant that does not allow balloons - well Peter Lugers does not? And best yet is that they charge $3.5 per person to cut a birthday cake that they say you can bring in. When expressing our displeasure with the situation - we were told "what do you expect it is a Saturday night". Given their prices - I expect is a dining experience - not a "free for all" filled with waiters pushing you at the bar, rude bartenders, dirty floors, and a hostess that is more equipped for a diner that a high priced streak house. At the end we walked out and went to a Burton and Doyles - who were happy to accommodate us on 1 hours’ notice.

Peter Lugers - you will never see me again. And fellow dinners don't be fooled by the name - they are the rudest business owners out there - be warned - stay away - let them eat their overpriced food amongst the miserable old cranky staff that they have working there! This place is so 1980 - and really it is time for a face lift or at a minimum - wash the floor!

Luger's is not perfect. But the steak is, quite simply, beyond compare. You need to have several people who prefer the same level of doneness, so you can have steak for 3 or more and get a nice large slab. And you need to order it rare or medium rare. If you like steak more cooked than that, go elsewhere, you will not be happy at Luger's. The non-steak items are generally OK, but can be beat. I'll take the Palm's hash browns any day, and the Caesar Salad at Burton and Doyle down the road tops Luger's. And the Luger wine list is almost pathetic, with maybe a dozen or so red wines topped off by an annoying no corkage policy. But if you want the best steak on the planet, you cannot go wrong, and you cannot go anywhere else. Cash only. Lots of cash.
