Hotel was nice, this was off season, Woman at the front desk was very nice, helpful, good recommendations on where to eat, etc.

We rented a King bedroom w fire place. I made the mistake of bringing firewood and a duraflame log. It was a mistake because it is a lighted fire place, no head, no real flames..

A bit misleading considering I paid extra for the fireplace.

Hotel is walking distance to the cute town.

We stayed at the Townsend Manor on Sept. 23 and 24, 2011 during the Greenport Maritime Festival. On the plus side, the location is wonderful, and the grounds and outdoor facilities are lovely. There is considerable charm to the place since the buildings date back to the 1800's, and they have been maintained rather well. However, the room we were given in the Gingerbread House was very small. At $245 a night, one would hope for a larger room and more updated furnishings. The curtains that closed over the patio doors were shredded, and there was a smell of stale perfume or air freshener throughout the building. It was evident that they are making an effort to improve the place as the carpets and the bathroom were new, but we were so uncomfortable and so turned off by the smell, that we didn't stay the second night. They did offer to move us to another room, but we were so tired from walking around all day, that we just packed up and left. My advice to anyone who wants to stay there is to be sure to ask for one of the fully updated rooms, and inquire about the size of the room as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly refinished room. Noise from the boaters in the marina can be annoying, but there...

My husband & I stayed at Townsend Manor Inn during a visit to Long Island wine country. Since most hotels have 2-3 night minimum on summer weekends, I was fortunate to find an opening here for one night. They have different types of accomodations. Our queen room was upstairs in the cottage. Although on the small side, the room was very well appointed and had a fridge, coffeemaker and a large closet. Several windows made it very bright and cheerful. We didn't use the pool, but it was large & clean with plenty of lounge chairs and a snack bar. Townsend Manor also had a dining room and lounge although we went into Greenport Village for dinner.

My family and I stayed at the Townsend Manor Inn July 2010. We loved our time there! Townsend is in a beautiful location with water views and charming atmosphere. Our room was newly furnished, clean and quiet. It almost feels as if you are staying with family! Bathroom was completely new and updated. We loved the pool and the smaller kiddie pool. I highly recommend Townsend Manor Inn to families who are visiting the North Fork!

Very excited to visit Greenport for my first time. Townsend Inn is in great need of repair - inside and out - chipped paint, loose railings, filthy carpets, food left in room refrigerator etc. - I would expect much more from a place charging on average 200+ a night for a room.
In addition, we waited an hour for breakfast. OK, there were several large groups but how about trying to squeeze in a simple order for two people in less than sixty minutes plus.
Overall, I was very disappointed - there were even long black hairs on the shower walls before we had even used the shower...:) Will definitely head back to Greenport, but will look for other lodging.

We had the greatest time here because the facility itself is wonderful but also because the staff was so helpful. We had four adults and two under-three boys, and everyone loved it. We stayed in two rooms down the hall from each other on the second floor. They were large, comfortable and quiet, and the grandparents were able to step in for the parents so everyone could have a good time. The pool was a blast--two pools actually, one big and one little. We were also able to shuttle drinks of various types from the bar (an experience in itself and a local hangout) out to the pool with ease. Kids of all ages were splashing around and enjoying themselves. Also, when we decided to cook out, the people who dock their boats there were very generous and let us use their grills because we were guests. A great, great three-day weekend.

Room Tip: Go upstairs in the main hotel or into the closest out building

I chose this inn because I was in the area for a wedding and needed a place that allows 1 night stays versus the usual 2 night minimum (at $350 a night that most B&Bs require in the area. ) I live in Manhattan, drove out to long island to the Townsend Manor Inn and this place completely fit the bill.

The inn actually exceeded my expectations (there were no previous reviews on Trip Advisor to go off of). The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, had a television, the bathroom was very clean (no rust or remnants of previous guests), the bathroom had nice tiling, clean towels, good water pressure, provided toiletries, etc. Our room also had a nice view of the harbor and the inn has a pool although we didn't use it. With town just a short walk away, we didn't eat at the inn as there are tons of options just down the road.

All in all, if your'e looking for an affordable place and plan on spending the majority of your time at vineyards, restaurants, etc, this inn will meet your needs.
