“Great First Impression”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014 via mobile

We have watched this location change hands and menus numerous times. This evening we went to dinner and had an enjoyable experience. We were greeted warmly and promptly seated in a mostly empty dining room, although the bar was quite lively. The menu is typical, but does have some less seen items such as fried green beans as an appetizer. Entrees combine American and Greek selections. Being a seafood lover, my wife chose the swordfish and found it to be moist and flavorful. Our server offered her a choice of rice or extra vegetables and she took the vegetables which turned out to be a combination of eggplant, onions, red and green peppers braised to the point of tenderness, but not overcooked. I went with the pork souvlaki platter, nicely marinated pork pieces cooked to be very tender. This was accompanied by french fries, for which sweet potato fries were substituted and a mini, but substantial Greek salad, which surprisingly had a stuffed grape leaf as part of it. This was particularly interesting as it was flavored with mint.

The menu says they will accommodate requests for special items and in asking one the owners, this is not to mean they will accommodate requests for items not on the menu, they will try and prepare what they offer to your needs. A very nice touch. We were also told that they are offering daily specials to see what other items might become regular offerings.

While there are other Greek style restaurants in the area, their varied menu should generate enough traffic to make it a success.

“great food for a reasonable price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2013

Four of us (two were travelers from South Florida) happened on this restaurant and we were extremely impressed. After eating at many a high-priced place in Long Island we were overwhelmed by the more "normal" prices that we pay down here for similar establishments. Food was great and, above all, the service was impeccable. And we had just given up on finding a place in LI where we wouldn't feel like we should empty our pocket books when we sat down, and not have any expectations of friendly service! What a hidden gem. Since we eat out a lot, we're always looking for that perfect ratio food-service-value and we believe we found it at Six Three One.

“At last a diner-type place with great hours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2013

So nice to have a diner type place here. I was there early on so there were a few hiccups that night, which I am sure they have worked out. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and with nice sized portions. It is not fancy, and sometimes that is exactly what you need! Go and enjoy!
