Description: The Uptown is a Lake George greenmarket restaurant sourcing local New York and Vermont ingredients. Its rustic country menu changes daily, emphasizing the seasonality of the ingredients. The Old World artisanal wine list is chosen to complement the food. Our experienced New York City team embraces the opportunity to spend a summer working in the Adirondacks.

“Haute cuisine in a casual country setting”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

Dinner at the Uptown in Hague was worth the drive and the cost. Food was fresh and delicious, with an inventive farm-to-table menu and friendly service in a chic/rustic space. Very good selection of wines and beers. Probably a better spot for adults than kids. Only gripe was the high price of desserts -- although they were exceptionally good.

“Uptown prices in downtown Hague”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

It looks as though I'm going to be the odd man out (not nearly so on Trip Advisor)

First, the positives------
Great old building, very nicely done, rustic dinning room and laid back vibe, very well prepared food, family style.

The negatives-------------
Long wait for the food to arrive (1.25 Hours)
Very small portions at quite elevated prices
Overpriced wine list-----a generic white burgundy (in fairness, quite tasty) cost $70
Bottled beer at $7-8
Nothing for young kids to eat---maybe that's what they desire!

The bill was presented as a cash register tape; just a series of numbers with a total. Our host asked for a breakdown of each number----$26 steak, $26 sea bass, $70 wine, etc.. When presented the detailed bill, he discovered it had been padded by $50! Honest mistake????----see Trip Advisor for similar complaint.
We all returned home hungry, upset and feeling fleeced! No apologies or excuses from the management.

So, in short, the Uptown offers downtown Hague a welcome fine dining concept with fresh, interesting and well prepared food. However, be prepared for small portions at steep prices. Check the bill also. I cant imagine returning, which is a shame.

“Very sweet place!”
Reviewed 25 August 2013 via mobile

Great little place, the food was exquisite and the desserts were heavenly. The atmosphere is quaint. A couple of requests, portions on the small side for a hungry teenage boy especially since there is no bread on the table. The menu changes daily but the night we went there were not any vegetarian options per se but I would go back happy

“Not for everyone, but good!”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

Call ahead for the menu that changes every day. It's very limited but offers very creative and fresh choices in small portions. The ambiance is rustic, the service great but the portions and pricing may disappoint some. The Sunday brunch is to die for from 10-2.

“Not for everyone,but Good”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

The great Sunday brunch got us here for dinner. Entirely different experience in a cozy, rustic setting that takes you back in time. Menu is limited and changes daily. Call ahead. Chef prepares expertly, fresh, wholesome choices using house made ingredients, herbs and farm fresh produce. Be prepared for small portions at somewhat elevated prices. Certainly a unique, flavorful and creative new addition to our regions seasonal offerings, but check out the menu before you go.
Service by the way is outstanding!
