“Pleasant Accomodations.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2012

We stayed at Smith's from June 25th to 27th 2012 and this was my first stay. We were a group of 12 who came from Long Island to flyfish on the Delaware River. The hotel is in a beautiful setting with excellent views of the Delaware Valley. The rooms, although somewhat retro were clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. The mini fridges in the rooms are a big plus. The shower flow was strong with plenty of hot water. The owners are very accomodating. When we needed extra towels they were promptly given with a smile. One negative was a slight musty smell when we first came into the room. We ran the AC on the "fan"setting and this took care of the problem. For a treat be sure to visit the excellent ice cream stand called Cow Licks just a few minutes away.

Room Tip: Room 18 is larger than the rest and faces the river rather than the road.

Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend. Room was spacious, super clean, and comfortable, with a view of the river valley. Refrigerator and microwave in room. Ice machine outside. Good cell phone coverage (Verizon), which is rare in this valley. Will stay there, again, if we are in this area.

Very clean and wonderful views of the Delaware River. Would stay there again, however the rates are a little steep for the area, afterall it is a Motel not a Hotel with all the amendities and most of the rooms are on the small side.

We were passing through and hoping to find an inexpensive but clean hotel, and this filled the need. The beds were firm but comfortable. This is a no-frills hotel: check in, stay, drop off your key, and leave. There was no coffee service in the office or room, and there was no breakfast. (There was an electric pot to heat water and make instant coffee or tea, but the pot was unappealing, so we didn't want to use it.) The host was friendly and accommodating. The grounds were maintained. We had a nice view from the window of the river in the back of the hotel. It was quiet at night, but the nearby road was noisy come wake-up time around 6:30.

Stayed here the night before an early fishing trip. There is an ice machine and a microwave available for use. There was also a refrigerator in the room.

Room Tip: If you'd like a view of the river, ask for one of the rooms at the back

In January 2011, we booked a room for July 2011 (6 months in advance) to coincide with French Woods camp visiting days. First, in about March, Smith's asked us to accept a smaller room, which we did. Then in mid-May they called and CANCELLED our reservation, telling us they were going to give our room to some "long-time" customers instead of us! This is outrageous behavior for any establishment and is particularly outrageous because it is now IMPOSSIBLE to find decent alternative lodging anywhere near camp for those dates. So French Woods parents -- and anyone else who wants to ensure they have a place to stay in Hancock -- AVOID Smith's Colonial Motel.

Stayed for the weekend with friends to do some Trout fishing in the Delaware River.
Booked 2 rooms for four people. Rooms where clean and fairly modern.
There are not very many amenities but a mini fridge, electric hot pot, instant coffee and an ice bucket. Great views of the Delaware from the backyard.
Good this hotel is there because there is only one other choice in town and it is pricey and not as good.
Clair and Ed will take care of you with a genuine smile.
If you want a clean place to hang your hat for a couple of days this is the place.
