“Great Hockey Team Experience”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Our entire Ice Hockey organization booked this hotel for President Day Weekend. It is terrific for kids and adults. The hotel staff goes out of its way to accomodate everything we need. Because of the interior atrium, it is easy to keep track of where everyone is. Pool area, bar, lounge, open areas are all in the atrium with half the rooms able to look down into the activity. If you are a couple or business person, I would not recommend being there during a tournament weekend, as there is noise and activity all day and night. The walls are a bit thin, but for our purposes, not an issue. Couches have pull out beds that the kids like. Breakfast buffet quite nice and staff was exceptional.

Room Tip: For less noise, make sure your room does not face into the atrium. Beds are great, but thin walls a...

Stayed two nights recently for business. Shuttle service is great, and Alex (?) the driver was phenomenal! A computer glitch at check-in made the process harder than usual, and I was mistakenly given a key to an occupied room. A quick trip to reception got that taken care of. Breakfast buffet was pretty good, though pricey ($11 continental/$13 full). $9.95/day internet is also a bit steep (TIP: ask reception for access to lobby WiFi)

Cool hotel atrium with restaurant, pool, bar, and plenty of space to work or relax. Definitely not a "cookie cutter" design like I was expecting. Hotel feels a bit dated and shows some wear and tear. Surprised by some mold stains in the shower. Sound insulation is weak; lots of hallway noise if the hotel's busy (ask for a room away from the elevators, but be prepared for a hike!) Bed was very comfortable, and the desk had plenty of space and outlets for working. Very poor lighting in bathroom.

Direct-billed to company, so I can't speak to the price. I felt like it was worth ~$125/night but I'm not familiar with other options in the Rochester area, so hard to compare. Definitely not a $200/night place.

Room Tip: HHonors rooms are on the 5th floor. For privacy, you may want avoid rooms that face the atrium (tho...

This hotel is one of the best in Rochester!
Maybe it's because I stay here many times monthly, but the staff is always friendly and courteous!

The Bistro staff is usually on top of their game!
The front desk staff has always made me feel welcome. (I love the cookies!)

Usually I get a coporate rate, so those complaining about room rates, should look into that.
Internet is hardly free in a hotel setting, so don't expect something for nothing!

Last stay I had trouble connecting to the Internet, and a gentlement walking by on his day off assisted me. (I can't remember his name but he had tattoos and a ball cap on)

This hotel is truly a step above the downtown hotels!

This is a nice clean hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. The restaurant was okay, service was slow and the breakfast Buffett was not good. Hotel was great, just eat somewhere else.

I agree with a previous review that this hotel is not worth the high price, however overall it is a comfortable place to stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating when I requested to switch from an interior to exterior room even though the hotel was nearly full. The room was clean but in need of updating.

This Doubletree was nice enough, but for the money ($190 a night) it was just way overpriced so my review is pretty much based off of that. For the $100-$150 a night range I would been happy, but when you get up to this price level I just expect a bit more. Everything was very clean, but the hotel decor was starting to show it's age a bit. Day shift front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful - night shift not so much. The bar area was definitely a dissappointment. Waited an eternity for a drink - just not attentive at all. They were sort of busy, but still - if this is the case it needs to be better staffed. For the money I'd look elsewhere next time or settle for the Holiday Inn down the street which looked newer and I'm sure costs much less.

We only stayed here one night, but the beds were very comfortable and the staff very friendly. We did not try the restaurant or the bar, but did go for a swim. The pool was nice, but found that the hot tub was seperate from the pool which is great for adults, but I could not sit in the hot tub and watch the kids in the pool. Overall, it was a very nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay.
