“Great lunch offerings, service for large groups”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Recently ate here for lunch with a large group. We came with more people than expected and the wait staff were right there to add another table to ensure our comfort. Very attentive service, and while most enjoyed standard chinese luncheon affair, a few parties opted for the sushi lunch boxes. All were pleased at the fresh ingredients and lighter style of fried rice. Reasonable prices as well.

“No excitement can be a good thing”
Reviewed 6 June 2014 via mobile

No surprises at Jani. Standard Chinese fare. The food is consistently good, the service is always professional and friendly. The dining room is comfortable with no crammed in tables and usually an acceptable noise level. Parking is plentiful and prices are moderate

“Very good food, dated dining area”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

Jani's has excellent Chinese cuisine. sushi is available but I'm not a sushi eater. Seating is plentiful, large groups are easily handled. Decor is somewhat dated but comfortable like an old shoe

“New Years Eve 2014”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

New Years Eve, 2014 and the 12 of us made our yearly return on this date to Jani's Restaurant in Hicksville, NY. We all ordered the selections from the Chinese food menue and were not disappointed. The "Sesame Chicken" was delicious and the "Cold Seseme Noodles" was a delightful companion to the chicken. There were many other dishes selected by the rest of our group and enjoyed by all. After we ate the attractively presented ice cream dessert we left for the second part of our celebration.
We all looked forward to our "New Years" return to the "Tilles Center for the Performing Arts" in Glen Head, NY. The "Long Island Philharmonic" under the direction of maestro David Wiley presented the musical genius of Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rogers in a "Broadway Celebration" of music from some of their most famous shows. The familiar songs played so magnificently by the "Philharmonic" were sung by four amazing voices. Oscar "Andy" Hammerstein 111 the grandson of Oscar Hammerstein played host and told us some wonderful stories about his grandfather. This greatly added to the enjoyment of the evening. The theater itself is so beautiful and the seating is so arranged that a person can have perfect viewing from anywhere in the theater. "New Years Eve, 2015" will hopefully find us all repeating our visit to "Jani's" and "Tilles Center" as we have happily done so in years past.

“Dim Sum Fun”
Reviewed 22 December 2013

Jani is a Chinese, Japanese, sushi, noodle, dim sum restaurant. We were in the mood for dim sum. We were promptly greeted and seated and then served hot tea and water. Fried chips were served with hot mustard and sweet sauce. The noodles were very greasy. We ordered a variety of dim sum items after being told each one would be two or three pieces. The wait seemed long for the food to arrive (about 30 minutes). As it turned out, the wait was worth it! The sesame balls came out first. They were hot out of the fryer and covered with toasty sesame seeds. We ordered red bean buns, roast pork buns, pan-fried leek buns, stuffed eggplant, pork shumai, shrimp dumplings, and sweet rice in lotus leaf.
My favorites were the sesame balls, pork shumai, and sweet rice in lotus leaf. Many of the dishes included shrimp, even when they weren’t listed in the menu description. We enjoyed our meal, tried some new things, and the three of us had more than we could eat for $24.
