Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #5 of 5 High Falls B&B and Inns
Reviewed 2 January 2013

We had a lovely time Christmas week at Adagio House, the sister property to Whispering Pines on the same quiet country lane. The house is conveniently located to High Falls and Stone Ridge with some very nice lifestyle shopping, a large (for the area) supermarket, and bank within a short driving distance. The drive to New Paltz is a little longer (20-25 minutes) but convenient. We found Adagio House to be clean, modern and well kept with comfortable rooms and living spaces. Our small family of 4 enjoyed the large ensuite bath to the master as well as the living room and fireplace best. We had visitors one day and there was plenty of space for a larger crowd to move around and enjoy company. Midweek we had 4-6 inches of snow; the house driveway and 200 yards of country road were plowed by mid-morning allowing easy access (thanks Celia!) Would definitely recommend to friends and stay again. Our visitors had not planned to stay the night but after spending the day there regretted not packing to take us up on the offer to spend another day...they won't make the same mistake twice!

THANKS FOR A GREAT STAY!

Perfect for a group or big family! The house is so clean. The decor is amazing and modern, but still comfortable. We stayed the weekend of October 19-21 2012 for a wedding. Our weekend went so quick I was sad we didn't get to spend more time in the house. We live in Georgia, but if we are ever able to take a family trip to NY again we will definitely make it to High Falls and stay here. You have all the comforts of a house (kitchenware, laundry, privacy) and can really enjoy the surroundings just sitting on the back porch. Celia made sure we had whatever we needed and there were no worries at all. I'm not a bed and breakfast kind of person so the Adagio House was a perfect fit. No complaints!

Room Tip: 4 full rooms. Afternoon Delight room was great - bathroom is small with just a shower, but nice. Bed...

Nice welcome. very quiet in the woods. Convenient to New Paltz for dinner and the mohonk area.
The grounds seemed a bit neglected.

Ok, so after 8 years having consistently stayed at this Bed & Breakfast, we've decided to give it a quick review based on what we've experienced during our stay.

My initial impression -- where the heck are we? I'm a typical city gal with no survival skills when it comes to life in the woods.

Upon arrival, we're welcome by friendly dogs. We have seen a sign on the door stating the hostess is out. Perfectly fine since my focus is Hubby, the fireplace, the comfy couch that welcomes our arrival, and the many movies (old & new), menu binder bidding our taste buds for the evening, game boards, playing cards, relaxing music (from Mozart to Bach), and the silence that beckons us to our room.

Luckily, this cozy room has the comfort I craved. The Starlight Room is where we stay for each visit; name given due to the window above the jacuzzi that allows you to witness the beauty of blooming trees in the Spring, or clear skies during Winter. The room has been clean and welcoming each time.

My husband & I are tech-geeks, which is why we appreciate having no TV reception. Hey, our cell phones work & that's just for our kids' sake -- the DND sign is clearly posted all around. ;)

From the delicious array of homemade coffee cakes, deliciously stuffed omelets, coffee, wide-selection of tea, cereal, small fridge w/ freshly-squeezed orange juice, thick french-toast, etc. (note: continental breakfast is expected during the week, which is why we make sure we go on weekends) to the friendly-ness of the hostess, Celia... we thoroughly enjoyed this Bed & Breakfast and look forward to our next anniversary get-away.

Attractions & recommendations:
Visit the town in New Paltz / Rent a bike
Eat @ Neko's Japanese Restaurant
Visit High Falls / Museum / Hydro-electric aqueducts / River

Our family stayed at the Adagio house for a wedding that was being held close by at another BnB.
It was fabulous. We had plenty of room to work on things for the wedding, (i.e. cake and flowers) space was just perfect. The house was open and airy and with the fully equipped kitchen, deck for lounging & work, the entire family had a blast.
Would highly recommend Whispering Pines/Adagio house for anyone looking to have a small family gathering. We were 12 and very comfortable.
Thanks Celia for your warm, welcoming, hospitality. Our family is still talking about it today.

My partner and I had an incredible time. Celia is a wonderful cook and the breakfasts (omelots and french toast) were wonderful. There was also fruit, cereal and danish to choose from. Celia and her family were great hosts. The house is very secluded - in the middle of no-where, which was exactly what we wanted. The outdoor jacuzzi in the cold was a wonderful experience and it was great to run in and warm ourselves by the fireplace.
