“A Four Season Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2008

My family has been going to the Swiss Hutte for over 10 years. The rooms are comfortable, exceptionally clean and reasonably large by most standards. We have a 10 year-old son and a collie, and both boys love coming here as much as my husband and I do.

Swiss Hutte is a great place to come in the wnter, as it's at the base of the Catamount Ski area. In the spring, the flowering trees are spectacular as are the interesting species of birds. The grounds are a wonderful place to relax in the summer, whether you spend time at the pool or just reading in the gazebo that overlooks the pond.

The owners are wonderfully charming and especially welcoming. They also own the excellentl restaurant on the property that offers a continental menu with an ubelievable dessert selection.

“Great city escape.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2007

Our plan was to hike a section of the western CT/MA portion of the Appalachian Trail. We went on a whim Thanksgiving weekend with a plan to spend one night. We began looking for a place to stay in the late afternoon and were amazed by the lack of reasonably priced, charming accomodations available. (Important piece: we travel with two dogs and need a place that will accomodate them. We bring a "dog-eared" copy of "The Dog Lovers Companion to New England" with us.) We made the decision to seek out one last place before turning around and going home, and we are so glad that we did.

The room is standard motel fare, but clean as a whistle. A small refridgerator was in the room, which would be great if you were staying longer than the single night we were there. The motel is adjacent to a wonderful restaurant owned by the same couple. We had an outstanding dinner served by two of the most knowledgable and accomodating wait staff that I've experienced anywhere in the US. The meal and service rated five stars.

Snowmaking was going on all night at the ski area next door, but the noise didn't interrupt a good night's sleep. This is an excellent reasonably priced place to spend a night or several when traveling in that beautiful part of the county. An exceptional value.
