“Attention dry wine lovers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2013

So many of the wineries specialize in sweet wines that often it's difficult to find dry wine specialists in the region. If you like dry wines, you'll like this place a lot. The setting and atmosphere is a throwback to the old days, prior to all the flags and banners trying to attract the limo crowd. You might almost think the place is abandoned when you approach it because it looks so ramshackle. But don't be fooled, this is a high quality operation. And yes, the tasting price was much higher than normal, but they also gave you a greater number of wines to taste. Thumbs up for Shaw.

“Overall, good wine with average wine tasting experience.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2013

The stop to Shaw Vineyard was one of our first during the trip, and one of our least favorite stops. The tasting room is a basic wooden building...no problem with that. However, the fee is $5.00, with no souvenir wine glasses provided or even available for purchase. The server was friendly but was doing other things during our tasting. The vintner was sitting in the room when we arrived, and we had to ask to find out who he was. While he answered direct questions, he was not friendly and offered no information about the vineyard, grapes or the wines. That was disappointing; he was sitting in the room so we thought it would be a good chance to learn about his vineyard. Wrong; it was just uncomfortable after we asked questions and he volunteered to information on his company or wine making process. The wines were good, and we did purchase a bottle. However, there were other Vineyards that provided a better experience and that had better wines. We look not only for good wine but a good tasting experinece, and were disappointed.

“Awesome Red Wine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2013 via mobile

When you go to this winery, it's not very fancy or glamorous like other places in the Finger Lakes. Its just a wooden shack. However, I know from experience these are the best places to get awesome wine. And boy was I right. This place has simply the best red wine by far in the Finger Lakes. Our host was the winemaker, a little quirky but friendly and personable. It was a honor meeting him and I let him know so. Thanks Mark for a pleasurable experience.

“Best wines I tasted”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2013

I loved every single wine I tasted. They give you 4 whites and 4 reds...if you like dry wine you'll love this place. Wine is more expensive to buy, but totally worth it. Atmosphere in the tasting room was great! Very chill.

“quality wine tasting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013

Shaw wine tasting is for people who enjoy excellent wine. it is not designed for groups, for parties, for comfort. The tasting room is small; there is no seating. But the presentation is professional, the wines are superb, and the atmosphere oozes attention to detail. The red wines are expensive, but outstanding, all of them - though there aren't many. Shaw is a boutique winery that makes a small number of wines, both white and red, with unusual care - that they enjoy explaining in their tasting room.
