Spent 1 week at this hotel and the 5 star reviews are spot on.
Each room in the hotel is a suite and we stopped in suite number 3.
The view from our balcony over the pool, gardens and down onto the sea was stunning.
The staff are all an asset to the hotel, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The food in the restaurant is of a great standard and the prices reflect that - probably high for Gambia but not Uk.
This hotel is a little bit off the beaten path and an ideal place to sit, relax and chill out.
A special mention must got to Sainey on the security team ( thanks for taking me to watch the Spurs v Man United game it was definitely an experience I will never forget.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent.

What can I say that hasn't been said before, it deserves all the awards it gets,
The hotel is managed by Jenny Fenton and she has got it just right, she looks after everyone so well nothing is any trouble to her she gets on well with the staff who respect her, she is a very interesting person to talk to I wish we had had more time but she is very busy. The hotel has the most beautiful gardens and so well looked after by the staff it has a wonderful view of the sea so nice to sit in the gardens and listen to the waves.

The restaurant and staff are amazing, the beef carpaccio is so delicious I had it 3 times as it was so good, and the warm chocolate pudding is something else I thought marks and Spencer's was good but this is amazing! but all the food is excellent and because it is so good and the setting is so beautiful we ate there every night except one as we were meeting up with friends.

The rooms are very big with lots of interesting things to look at and lovely Batik paintings. The maids do a wonderful job, lots of toiletries, beds changed every day.

The staff are wonderful always smiling eager to please, even the gardeners and maintenance men pass the time of day. Habib the hotel taxi man is a joy so kind happy and very pleasant.

What more can I say except go and try it for yourself, 6 hour flight the jet lag charter flight with Monarch which was excellent.

Thank you everyone at Ngala Lodge for a wonderful stay.

As a group of 10 we decided to come to Ngala Lodge. Some of the group had been here before, I hadn't been here myself so wasn't sure what to expect. From the moment we entered the restaurant area I was blown away. For a while it actually didn't seem like we were in The Gambia but in the Indian Ocean somewhere! The setting was just brilliant.
The food for everyone was brilliant. I had a Tuna sashimi and my boyfriend had a beef sashimi which we both shared (both gorgeous starters) we then shared a fruits de la mare which blew me away. The presentation and the amount of fish was brilliant.
The price was ok although I do think a little pricey overall.
I'd DEFINATELY recommend this place to family, friends and other people in my trade so they visit it. It was worth every penny.

The first experience was The Gambia Experience,This holiday company was first rate from the first phone call until we left for our holiday on the 22nd october. All staff could answer any question or query about the hotel and Gambia itself making the booking a pleasure.Experience number 2 was the Ngala Lodge experience,We wanted a special holiday as a treat to ourselves and this hotel delivered it big time,As soon as you walk through the gates you know you have made the right choice ,We were greeted by the very helpful Jenny the manager who was always around to help if you needed it ,Even managing to pair me up with another guest for a fishing trip. Thanks Jenny .It is very difficult to add anything about the quality of Ngala that has not already been said. We stayed in Agnes in the Atlantic wing . Wow!this is without doubt the finest suite we have ever stayed in on holiday,But saying this all the guests we met and talked to all praised the quality of there rooms so dont worry if you do not want to pay the extra for the Atlantic suites as you will still be staying in a beautiful suite. With only having I think 18 suites within a couple of days you soon get to know the other guests. Every body keeps on about the staff at Ngala saying how lovely and helpful they are from the gardeners up to the top man and owner Peter.Well they are spot on and all praise is very much justified . We stayed half board and and found the food to be of exceptional quality and cooked to perfection. The hotel was spotless from the main gate down to the Atlantic Ocean again all credit to the staff. It is impossible to describe how heavenly this place is ,My only advise would be book it and go see for yourself as we know your tripadvisor review will be singing Ngala Lodges praises. The holiday out side of the hotel was fantastic as the Gambia is as lovely as its people. We are certainly going back to Gambia and would not think of staying anywhere else other than this idyllic haven. John & Rosemarie.

We chose this hotel after reading all of the previous reviews and they were not wrong. Jenny was so friendly and welcoming, and all of the staff are amazing. We stayed in one of the Atlantic Suite rooms and it was huge, with lovely views from the spacious balcony. The gardens are beautiful and we saw lots of different birds and butterflies, also vultures and kites flying above. The food was excellent, thank you Jonathan. The fact that the hotel is small was a real bonus and there is still plenty of space to relax and enjoy your holiday around the hotel grounds. We would also recommend going out for the day with Habib to see the "real" Gambia, it was so interesting. Should we come back to The Gambia we would not stay anywhere else. Thanks again to all of the staff for making our holiday so enjoyable.
