The hotel is tidy, the staff are brilliant and very helpful. Shower broke first day, was fixed straight away. Electricity cut out 3rd day but again was fixed straight after. What more could you ask for?

The hotel was reliable, beds and room fine, cleaned daily to a suitable standard.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend, unless they understood the difference between hotels in Europe and Africa, but if they did then I definitely would as there were no major faults at all.

Any questions feel free to drop me a message!

We stayed at the Palm beach December 11th to 25th our room was adequate for our needs although we did hire a fridge and bought a few beers from the wholesaler on the strip, the room was cleaned every day to a high standard as were all the public areas in the hotel, for what we paid I think it was value for money and we would definitley go back. This hotel is in a great location and positioned well for all the local attractions.

Room Tip: Email the hotel to request a pool view room.

Stayed over the new year, all of the staff, and I mean every single one were just lovely, so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. They made a big fuss over my daughter and treated her like she was royalty, they all called her a princess! Rooms are basic but are cleaned daily, poolside and hotel are always being cleaned and the waiting staff around the pool and bar are all lovely, chatty and very quick to take your order. It's right by the beach so no need to stray too far if you're not up for it, nice places to eat within a 5-10 minute walk, although we also ate in the hotel which was fine. Kotu isn't a big bustling busy resort, but it's ideal if you want a nice friendly quiet holiday, you can always get a bargain taxi into Senegambia for extra nightlife, but we never bothered, it's a nice walk there along the beach though. I'd recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

First time in the Gambia, didn't know what to expect. When we first arrived the hotel looked "shabby chic" After a bad start and being given a room that was rather smelly ( B17) we were moved the next day to a more pleasant room in B14. The rooms are very basic, but has all you need and is more than adequate to sleep in, which suited our needs perfectly. Gambia was an eye opener, bumsters are a pain and persistent. Overcome the bumsters and a fantastic holiday is to be had. Breakfast at the hotel is fantastic, the staff very polite and helpful, Food in the bar was nice and not overly expensive. If you want to exchange money at the hotel, they offer a good exchange rate, but you will get a better rate on the Senengambia strip.

We met some lovely people and made a few good friends. Special mention to Sanna who took us on the "Roots" trip amongst other things. Sanna is an excellent guide and expects nothing. If you are looking for someone who is not "pushy" and over the top PM me and we will pass on his details. A special mention to Gallo Sowe who works at the Mandela Bar/ Restaurant. Gallo is a lovely genuine guy and a chef at the Restaurant.

Trip wise, we would recommend the crocodile park, the monkey park ( without a guide ) .The roots trip can be costly, but it is something that should be done at least once. A day trip to Fathala Park, which is in Senegal is worth it for the experience of going to Senegal, however the park is nothing special, just a few animals that have been brought in from other countries.

Green tourists taxis are a lot dearer than the yellow taxis. We found the yellow taxis were more than adequate and a fraction of the cost. You can negotiate a price beforehand. We also used local transport ( Bush taxis) with our friend Sanna and is a good way to get round and experience the real Gambia.

There are a wide variety of restaurants to eat in, our favourites were Sailor Boy on Kotu Beach, Elton Afra which we discovered on our last night, Uncle Noahs on the Senegambia Strip. VJs Curry House in Kotu, now known as the Tandoor I believe. Kebab Ji on the main road top of the strip and turn left. Cheapest and best shisha also free wifi We also frequented and enjoyed Chosaans, but believe it is now closed. All the bars/ restaurants on Kotu beach were pretty good especially Kunta Kinteh's. The only place we didn't like was poco loco where we found the owner/manager to be incredibly rude to the staff and swore profusely. Which is a real pity, because the place is absolutely lovely!

All in all we had a fantastic holiday, once we got used to the bumsters, would we go back? Yes! have booked again, same hotel 52 days and counting! . Fantastic weather and great beaches! what more could one want?

My husband & I stayed here for New Year and had a fantastic time. It was our 2nd time in Gambia, but 1st time at this hotel. It will not be the last time at this hotel though.
The rooms are basic, but our idea is that a room is somewhere to store clothes & sleep, not anywhere to spend a lot of time. The toilet seat was wobbly and we only had 2 pillows, but a quick word at reception and by the time we returned to the room we had a repaired toilet seat & an extra 2 pillows. The room was cleaned every day & the bed was made for us. The bathroom was fully tiled and there was always hot water. We did have to wedge the door of the wardrobe shut with a coat hanger, but this is Africa and 2*. We were in B16, it is an upstairs room in the middle row, so had no particular view.
Breakfast was adequate every day, cereal, toast, pancakes (made to order), beans, eggs, fresh fruit, cheese, juice, tea & coffee. You have the choice of sitting inside to eat or on the terrace overlooking the creek & the beach.
Pool was very cold, but cleaned every morning, the staff were always available to get drinks for you & the poolside food menu was very good. We had lunch at the pool most days.
We found that all the staff were always polite & friendly, they even bought a cake for a friend's 40th birthday out of their own money. They were not being friendly in order to be given money or goods, they were just genuinely nice to everyone.
Evening entertainment was fine if you were staying at the hotel in the evening, and always finished before midnight.
We are looking forward to a longer stay at this hotel in the near future and would recommend it to most people.

Room Tip: Rooms beginning with A are closest to pool, lowest numbers are closest to reception, only upstairs r...

WArrived 24 Dec. Nice to see old friends.
Riped off by booking taxi through Travel Repunlic. Works out 100 pounds return. Cheaper if you just get a local cab .

Food at hotel ok. Room ok. Got a/ c. Bsthroom ok. Bed very comy big double. Decore needs reviewing. Staff lovely and accomodating.

Restaurant cslled Kunta Kintee gone doenhill too. Food horrible. Do not ask for salad unless you have good teeth! It consisted of raw cabbage carrot no lettuice or tomato. A horse would benefit more. Also avoid the steak.

Hotel pool looked nice and clean but cold. Not enough sun beds. Beach is lovely with plenty of sunbeds. Sea a bit rough to swim in but nice for padddle.

Horse riding on beach goof fun. Felt safe everywhere we went. No crime relaxing place.

Hotel needs money spent on it upgrading it i.e. power cuts shabby bath towels with holes in them plus blankets with holes.

Will not go back next year as want a change and more luxury.

Myself and about 25 fellow trainee teachers stayed at Palm Beach for one week early Jan this year, and i can honestly say i never felt more welcomed, protected or cared for than i have whilst at the Palm Beach. The staff were outstanding, so so helpful, happy and just genuinely lovely people. Although we were out exploring the country all day everyday once we returned back to the hotel we were always greeted with open arms and just made our evenings stress free and plenty of fun and smiles everywhere.
Our room B13 was excellent, effective fan and brilliant view from our balcony.
Breakfast was lovely and again great staff.
The entertainment t the hotel was brilliant, reggae music to culture shows, to karaoke what more could we have asked for.
Finally the waiting staff were just overwhelmingly caring, always ensuring we were happy, hydrated and safe :)

We had such a good time we are planning our next trip back already at the end of March.

Thanks Palm Beach xx
