I stayed with my girlfriend here as the last part of our trip to Madagascar. We had intended for this to be our bit of luxury after staying in cheaper accommodations for the rest of the trip.
I think the problem was that the other places we stayed in (Nosy Lodge, now called Sunset hotel) for example, were so amazing for the price(60 euros pa night) that we felt it wasn't worth the extra cost to stay here.
On the good side the pool is great, and it's very picturesque on the beach. The food I didn't think was great, although it wasn't terrible by any means, however, again, we had eaten so well for practically no money for the rest of the trip that it didn't feel special. Also the price of the excursions is crazy expensive, including a taxi into the local town. The excursion to Tani Kelli, which is great for snorkelling, was five times the price the local excursion companies would charge, and included a 10 euro supplement to be supervised if you wanted to snorkel! Crazy
The resort clearly wants its guests to stay on resort and do everything through them, which is fine in a way, however it's much less fun than going out to explore by yourself. A taxi into town can be organised through the hotel for an extortionate 52 euros return, however by walking out of the hotel to the main road we organised a return trip for about 15 euros.
The rooms were also again, not really very modern, compared to the traditional styled wooden beautiful furnished places at the other places we stayed.
Also we had massive issues with getting onto the Wifi which only worked intermittently for the last couple of days of our stay, while in the meantime I had paid a small fortune accessing the internet on my mobile phone to answer urgent work emails.
The staff we friendly enough and I have nothing really to say that's truly negative about this resort, however I think travellers an have a much more more luxurious, rewarding and cheaper experience in Nosy Be by booking good smaller hotels and eating at recommended local restaurants.
