loved the hike through the mangroves and the paddle in the canoe just to reach the reserve. Saw lots of wildlife and the guide was very knowledgeable.

i have walked through this reserve a couple of times and always found some animal that is very rare or not often seen. The guides are good and speak english too.

Other reviewers have mentioned the amazing wildlife that you can expect to see in Lokobe. I'd like to add some hints for enhancing your experience, because a few people in my group found this trip very difficult. Here's why: the steep trails were muddy and fruit-strewn the day we were there causing several people to slip and fall AND the guide was moving very quickly through the brush. Before you go, be aware that it will be hot and sticky; you will have to climb in and out of a small boat to get there so wear sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting wet; use insect repellant and sun screen, carry drinking water, wear long sleeves and long pants to prevent scratches and remember that the guide will take you on routes that will ensure that you see plenty of wildlife. This means walking at a fair pace on steep, slippery and wet paths through the trees.

I hope my comments won't discourage you because it was so worth the trip to see the lemurs, chameleons, frogs, a tree boa hanging directly above my head, and the little village at the shore.

We had a great experience in visiting this park and I very much recommend it for everyone. At first we wasn't sure if we should visit the park or not, since we were planning to visit other parks in Madagascar. But we had a very nice day and saw a lot of different things: lemurs, chameleons, boa, frogs and also a leaf-taled gecko (very cool!). It was defenetely worth it! Our guide was good and also the progue trip to the park was nice.

Our guide, Roger, had a good grasp of English and fantastic knowledge of the plants and animals. He could show us the smallest chameleon (2cm) and frog (1cm). Very skillful at finding the nocturnal lemurs. Lots of wildlife, not too touristy.
