I loved it here: the most amazingly welcoming, helpful and friendly staff; good quality and priced food; comfy and warm beds (some mozzie nets could do with being replaced though); and great place to meet people; right by the beach and the twn centre; spotlessly clean; great kitchen facilities. I could go on extolling its virtues, but if you're not convinced by now you never will be.

My stay here was the best by far and I had to tear myself away. There are many options available in Vilancolus, but this should be the top of the pick.

Room Tip: If staying in the dorm, request dorm three

would recommend this place if you're looking for a cheap place with good food and a chilled atmosphere. Friendly staff and hot showers. Option to camp- we stayed in the budget huts which were fine, nothing special but a comfortable bed and mozzie net and electricity. The beacj front chalets looked much nicer and had their own verandah and chairs looking out to sea.

Stayed in both the beach front chalets for 1 night and camped for 2.the chalet was adequate and clean but needed some attention. The campsite was grassed and the ablution facilities were very clean though also a little tired. The campsites proximity to the village made for a noisy night and little sleep.my recommendation would be to pay the extra and stay in a beach front chalet.the bar was fun buzzing with young people from all over the world and the food was pretty good although the pizza was a little stodgy.this place is good value from its level of accommodation .

Room Tip: Choose the beachfront chalets

I stayed two nights in a "beach front chalet". The rooms are clean, but slightly run down. Issues: they confirmed our reservation of two rooms but when we arrived several hours later they had given one of the rooms away. Be prepared to wait up to an hour for your food. The hostel safe is incredibly secure, so secure that only certain people have the key to open it and when both are away, you can find yourself waiting over an hour to access your items. Not a good situation if you have a plane to catch. Overall, the view from the chalets is worth the hassle.

I stayed here between 27th December 2012 and 02 January 2013 - over the 'manic' New Year's period.

Initially I had planned to stay at Zombie Cucumber, but did not call ahead and found they were full when I arrived. Also, they did not offer kitchen facilities or camping, so I mosied along to the BBB.

It's about 15 mins walk from town. Some of the roads are sandy 4x4 only roads so I don't think a tuk-tuk will take you all the way there. In return for the trek you get a great location right on the beach.

I stayed in the dorm a few days and camped the others. There was no fan in the hut I was in so it did get a bit warm at night. Other than that, there was a padlock on the door and security guards patrolling at night so it felt fairly secure.

The communal areas are a real joy. The bar/restaurant area and huge garden get the full benefit of the sea breeze and are pleasantly cool even during the day. There are a number of hammocks shaded under leafy trees for a cosy snooze. The property is elevated from the beach giving breathtaking views of the sea. The kitchen is large and well-equipped with a fridge for communal use.

There is also a small pool though I didn't make use of this as the beach and sea are just at the foot of the stairs.

The owners are super-friendly as are the staff. The restaurant serves pizza, burgers, steaks and if you want local food there is a place round the corner where you can get fish/chicken curry with rice. Warmly recommended!

Perfect for either couples, friends or couples. Clean, good food, nice star, interesting people and awesome location and and empty beach with a stunning view of Magaruque island! Very good rooms, camping place for the ones going on a budget, lots of options in the drinks and food menu.
