I've been meaning to write a review of Marula lodge for a while. I stayed here with my husband in June 2013 and had a fantastic time. We stayed in a pre-erected tent which was spacious and clean. The bathrooms were outside but private cubicles and beautifully done.
The proximity to the wildlife was the biggest highlight. The lodge runs morning and evening game drives. We were lucky enough to have close encounters with leopards and lions. The lodge sits on the river and free time can be spent on the deckchairs watching the hippos laze in the river. Hippos and elephants graze the lodge garden at night and the staff are always on hand and we felt incredibly safe. We woke up one morning at 4am to an elephant outside our tent! and an elephant even came up to the lodge bar one evening when we were having dinner!
We were travelling through Southern Africa for 3 months, and this place is one of the top 2 highlights of our trip! We will definitely be going back!
