We were travelling from Livingston to Lake Malawi and stopped here for the night. The rooms are basic, but has everything you need and they are clean. Nice team, the owners are hands on and the husband is pleasant. The pork chops were out of this world and we had a great stay on the way up so we stayed here again on the way down.

We arrived to a very bitter owner who voiced she for the most part did not like Americans, did not like her staff, and did not like much in general. Her staff seemed miserable, though the way they are treated I can't blame them. Their uniforms looks like they had been worn for weeks, the owner should have taken care o this. This is a very poor country and giving them some self respect improves their performance. Food was okay. Over priced.....What a shame as th location is lovely.

The bridge camp is in a lovely setting overlooking the Luangwa river. It was the only nice place we stayed on a 5 day cycle between Chipata and Lusaka. The communal seating area is really nicely done, with a good view over the river. The owners weren't around but the staff were nice and helpful.

However, the swimming pool was filthy, and at expensive 10 dollars per person for camping there wasn't even clean drinking water available (in the end we had to use the staff water filters). Food and drink were outrageously priced, $3 for a coke - 3 times the price of anywhere else, buy any drinks in the town 3km up the road. They may have to drive all their produce in, but no further than anyone else in the town, it's only just off the main road!

the rooms were beyond shabby chic, but clean and seemed to be decorated with what ever was on sale and the charity stores! but clean and functional with the bed being rather firm and enabled a good nights stay. the bathroom large and generous with great hot water. my room was located not far from the pool (not used). the bar was fine and reasonably priced with a nice bar man. no wifi or net.

What you have to remember is that this is a basic campsite & lodges in rural Africa. It's not going to have the amenities of The Savoy. The campsite and lodges are in a wonderful location with great friendly staff, bar and nice food. There is also a plunge pool and some brilliant guided walks, boat rides and so on. It is not luxury but is a great little campsite.

Worthwhile taking a walk (20 min) or drive into the village and having a walk round - very friendly people!

Well it was a long drive from Mama Rulas in Chipata so this was the break in our journey situated ideally, however the place is run down in need of some tlc. We stayed but only because we were so tired. Its in such an ideal place and has fantastic views of the river with a plunge pool and open air eating area. The rooms (not used) looked so sad and the campsite was just a scrap of land with poor facilities. The owners were very friendly but this place needs some work to bring in more customers.

Room Tip: We only used the campsite so there is little difference where you camp.
