Royal Zambezi Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Staying at the Royal Zambezi Lodge was everything you could hope for on an african holiday. The accommodation was excellent and it looked over the Zambezi river which often saw elephants wading in the water. Plenty of activities available to witness the animals in their natural environment - saw lots of lions, impala, crocodiles, buffalo, baboons, hippopotamus. The staff were exceptional and always helpful. The food was excellent and enjoyed watching the wild life from the decking as the sun went down.

From the relaxed but efficient transfer from the airstrip our group of 20+ enjoyed a great blend of meetings, food and activities (safari, fishing, island dinner and lunch by the river in the park). We were demanding and the staff moved with us...thanks to Nat, Keegs and Kolo. My last day was sitting on my porch watching an elephant munch reeds in the river in front, amazing

This was our third and final stop on an Odyssey safari tour and, by far, our favorite. The remote location was outstanding and provided us w/ the best game views of our trip. The staff was exceptional and provided outstanding one-on-one personal service. We were big fans of the canoe trip, which was so very relaxing and truly made us feel like we were the only ones on the planet, along with the wildlife, of course! The views from our deck were spectacular and I don't know where we would see such beautiful sun rises again. The elephants became our neighbors and we miss the hippos grunting through the night. We felt privileged to share this location with the wildlife -- would love to return some day. Thanks to Natalie and her staff for making us feel so welcome!!!

This lodge is in the middle of nowhere--on a beautiful river. It is the most peaceful place I have ever been in my life. Very scenic, with lots of wildlife. It is rustic, but with good food and excellent amenities. There is a spa.

The activities available are varied, and include canoeing, hiking, boat rides on the river at sunset, and jeep rides to view the animals. We saw elephants, hippos, baboons, crocs and many birds.

It is ideal for animal lovers, and nature lovers. Excellent staff.

Room Tip: All rooms are upscale tents/cabins. They are all on the river with decks and beautiful views.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the RZL on our honeymoon, and our stay there exceeded our very high expectations. The accommodations were luxurious and the food was fantastic, but it was really the service and attention that we received that made our stay there so incredible. The staff thought of the most wonderful details - like a candlelit dinner on a sand bank, cocktails on our night drive, and a bubble bath on our last night there - to make our honeymoon truly special. We will never forget our time there, and would recommend the RZL to anyone.

Royal Zambezi Lodge was the highlight of our African experience. The setting on the Zambezi river was luxurious as well as very comfortable. The staff was most accommodating meeting our every need. In addition to safaris, there was canoeing, fishing, sundowners, guided nature walks and an outstanding masseuse. The lodge was most attractive; very open and appropriately African in atmosphere. Animals could always be spotted in and about the property. The meals in an outdoor setting were fresh and well prepared and presented.

This lodge is amazing. The beauty of being on a safari lodge on the water is the choice of fishing, canoeing and dining on sandbanks in addition to standard game drives, game walks and sundowners.

The grounds are wild and exclusive, where the number of safari vehicles does not ever exceed the volume of wildlife to observe.

Oh, yes. And there are the Lodge grounds themselves...which are amazing. We had an outdoor plunge pool and outdoor shower and lounge bed. The "tents" are luxurious. Food is good - and the service was top-notch. Very well-done and a favorite.

Room Tip: Splurge and get a room with an outdoor shower, tub or plunge pool.
