Was my favorite place to stay on our trip to Africa in three countries! Wonderful accommodations clean and comfortable Home away from home in a tent that is.
The staff was generous and friendly. The game drive staff was so knowledgeable they went out of their way to make our experience exciting and 2 m needs of what wildlife we wanted to see. Victor the guy took us to see elephants in the salt licks, and in a place that they go play in the mud on a daily basis. The photo opportunities on this drive was amazing. All of the guides were very knowledgeable and help us find as many new experiences as is possible.

Room tip: The rooms were always wonderful, Friends have the Royal, and the views were worth the trek up the stairs.

What an experience!! I stayed here with a group in early June and everything was beyond my expectations!! The staff, guides, and management are like none other I've experienced anywhere and really made you feel like part of the family. They have activities to keep you busy day and night, even DNA (Doing Nothing at All) which was wonderful! I loved going to sleep with the sounds of nature, especially the hippos, and the beds were super comfortable. The food was outstanding, even the vervet monkeys enjoyed the breakfasts! I can't wait to return next year!

It is necessary to get here by private jet -- what a way to start a wonderful experience. The entire staff is/are exemplary; food delicious; location right on the Lower Zambezi is wonderful for relaxing and watching wildlife. Some rooms have dipping pools and outside daybeds and shades. There is a nice swimming pool, but we were so busy with canoeing, nature walks, and jeep safaris, we didn't have time to use it. We had an elephant walk into the lodge area twice! A masseuse is available and she gave me one of the bedt massages I have ever had. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Room tip: The Royal suite has a great view and may be the most private, but there are many steps to climb, so be aware.

Upon arrival at the private air strip we were met by an extremely helpful staff who transported us to the lodge. After a short briefing we were escorted to our "tents" where we settled in before a wonderful lunch on the deck overlooking the Zambezi River. The "tents" which have private, spacious bathrooms and beautiful, private decks from which we relaxed and enjoyed watching hippos, elephants and a variety of birds were anything but typical camping. Luxury at its best! The lodge is a great place to met and visit with other guest or enjoy reading one of the many books which line the tables or simply sit and enjoy the view. The pool and bar are located in the shade of a large tree and were a pleasant place to enjoy a drink and relax. The breakfast were wonderful and included fresh baked bread. Each meal was different, unique and very good. The game drives into the park were amazing and the morning stop for coffee, tea and biscuits were a treat and the cocktail stops for a gin and tonic and appetizers were very civilized! The lodge offers a variety of activities each day; but, the game drives were so amazing that we chose those everyday. The Royal Zambezi Lodge was a truly wonderful experience!!!

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in late Apr and we could not have wanted a more relaxing or enjoyable experience for our 30th wedding anniversary. Super staff, great food, amazing wildlife and views and we both caught a Tiger fish. Thanks RZL for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable.
