It is hard to find words to describe this place. My partner and I felt we were in a dream & had to pinch ourselves every day. From the time you arrive you feel nothing but welcome. The team are exceptional and the service is second to none. Even before arriving in Africa the staff had exceeded my expectations with their helpful knowledge of the country and Lower Zambezi. Debbie truely deserves a medal!
One of many things that single Baines River Camp out from the competition is their way of working. Like Fairies they worked around us, rather than us working to a strict itinerary other camps have in place. This is perfect as there is so much to do and everyone is different. They have their own Landcruisers, Boats and Canoes and you want to make sure you do everything. Believe me Canoeing the nkalangi channel is something everyone should do (my best experience as so close and intimate with the wildlife). The guides make you feel so comfortable and safe and are some of the most knowledgeable I have ever met.
Your first sighting of a pride of Lion (no matter how many times you have seen them) is enough to get anyone’s heart beating. I was actually lucky enough to see two prides throughout my stay. Your first sighting of a pride of Lion (no matter how many times you have seen them) is enough to get anyone’s heart beating. I was actually lucky enough to see two prides throughout my stay. There was so much to see, a herd of Elephants, Hippos, Crocks, Warthogs, Buffalo, Impala, Kudu and many species of birds and although I didn’t, if you are lucky maybe a Leopard. My partner insisted whilst there we must try a spot of Tiger Fishing although he soon wished he hadn't. Girls seem have a knack on the Zambezi. After reeling in a 4lb and 6lb Tiger Fish on my first day, a couple of days later I reeled in a 15lb Tiger Fish, after a lot of fighting with it. Due to conservation it is a catch and release policy.
Our explorer suite was very luxurious and comfortable with the most amazing view of the river and touch wood I never saw a mosquito in my room. The lodge itself was luxury at its best, with a large bar, dining room, lounge and swimming pool. You can even have spa treatments on your own private veranda, although I was too bury with the wildlife. The food was also amazing and Janie alway delivers with plenty of choice.
Without ruining it there are also some very special lunches and dinners held at this camp.
I could go on and on but to sum this holiday up, a luxurious experience in a place of amazing natural beauty and wonder. This place is my piece of paradise and I will certainly be returning as have no need to try anywhere else now I have found this.More
