“One of my very favorite hotels anywhere”
Reviewed 3 March 2011

My wife and I joined my sisters, their spouses and a cousin for a three day visit to Queretaro. We had reserved rooms in advance. As it happened, a snow storm on the East coast delayed the arrival of some of our party. Without even being asked the hotel assured us that under the circumstances, we would not be charged for the room that could be occupied.

Aside from the fact that the people who run this hotel are really helpful and thoughful, we all liked just about everything else about this place. The location is convenient, the rooms are pleasant and well appointed, the beds are comfortable, the provided breakfasts were excellent, the outside courtyard is a great place to sit around and socialize. The price is surprisingly reasonable. I recommend this hotel without reservation

We stayed here for 3 nights in a spacious room off the courtyard. The location was just a 5 minute walk to the central square. Jesus was the employee on duty during our stay and we can not say enough great things about him. He was attentive, accommodating, and is also an aspiring artist. His paintings are displayed in the breakfast courtyard. The room had comfortable beds, a coffee maker, and was extremely clean. A hot breakfast was included daily. Free wireless and a flat screen TV were nice additions for our teenage son. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I would like to ditto on all the good reviews that have been written about this place. Forget about all those big name hotels with too many promises that they always fail to keep. You can find those all over the world. However, if you'd like to taste the real flavor of one of Mexico's most beautiful cities, you'd better stay at this fine place. The rooms are squeaky clean, quiet if you ask for a room in the back or if there are no businessmen having breakfast at 7 am or earlier, and the decoration is tasteful and full of little details. Since it's in the heart of the city center most of the sites you'd like to see will be at a short walking distance; and even if the walks involve a few more blocks than usual they will be mostly pleasurable and you will always be tempted to make one or more stops at some little shops, awsome facades, chapels, or coffe shops you will encounter on the way. The hotels serves the most delicious Mexican breakfasts!. Instead of a staff of unmotivated or tepid waiters, front desk/room service employees, you will most likely be catered by 3 " fairy god parents" who will go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay and a memorable visit to Queretaro. We LOVED staying at this hotel and would like recommend it to anyone who appreciates understatement, taste, and attention to detail. P.S. Don't miss the chance to treat yourself to a relaxing massage in the basement of the place, it's 100%worth it! and definetely not as pricy as elsewhere.

I stayed at Villa del Villar for three nights in late October for a conference. After refusing to book a room at one of the conference hotels, I came upon this hotel on Trip Advisor. I couldn't have been happier those three nights. Villa del Villar is a gorgeous colonial mansion right in el centro. The room we stayed in for two was spacious, modern with beautiful original colonial touches and quiet and the patio where breakfast is served was relaxing and delightful. The guys who run the hotel are bar none the nicest guys you'll meet: they were helpful and kind. The free breakfast was first-rate and delicious. And the price was unbeatable! Overall, this is like a home away from home and one I hope to visit in the future.

If you are looking for a place without amenities (spa, gym, business center, etc) but with a really comfortable, cozy, and super clean room, this is defintely THE PLACE!. My partner and me were looking for a place with a reasonable price but a great service and very comfortable room. This ex-colonial house at Queretaro is now a small "boutique" hotel were the value you get is absolutely amazing. I definetly recomend it and will come back when I'm in Queretaro.

We received personalized service, people in charge are friendly and always willing to be of service. I find this boutique hotel an excellent choice for leisure, even if you are travelling with children. The site while counts with modern facilities, keeps the style of the building. Exquisite details all over the place. I really enjoyed my stay and look forwad to repeat this lovable experience soon.

We recently had 17 friends stay at this small (9 rooms) hotel in central Queretaro to celebrate the Bicentennial of Mexico and a birthday. The place is magical, so comfortable and beautiful without being too pretentious or 'done'. The rooms were comfortable and clean with simple linens, handmade bath soaps, flat-screen tv. The service was great, Raul, the manager, and his assistants Jesus and Orlando, are young, enthusiastic and very helpful. They made the stay more than just a hotel stay, they really treated us like friends. A beautiful and delicious breakfast is included in the price of the rooms and served in the lovely courtyard under trees covered in Bougainvillea and the sounds of a fountain. The location is ideal, a few of blocks from the center of town, within walking distance of everything to see in Queretaro. We had a large party for 34 people in the courtyard, and everything was perfect, the food, the service and the setting. There is a subterranean massage room also (part of the original 18th century aqueduct system of the city. I can't recommend this place enough.
