Holiday Inn Queretaro Zona Diamante
Ranked #68 of 94 Hotels in Queretaro City
Reviewed 5 August 2013

I stayed at this location for 5 days after having stayed at another Queretaro hotel the last dozen times in Queretaro. The reason for my stay was from hearing about the views of the city and the availability of a good in house restaurant. I requested a city view and was told that all were taken, even though one other in my group checked in after me and got the city view and the hotel was not crowded. As a result, I was left with the "5th" level, or 5 floors down with a view of the rock wall (yes, the elevator is very odd in that you don't know whether to press up or down since the floors are numbered from top down instead of bottom up). The room was very clean, and bathroom was just fine, but the bed was not comfortable. The cell phone reception in my room (given 5 floors down, and against the rock wall) was poor. Some of the facilities through the hallways were pretty beat up. I considered using the fitness center, but after checking it out chose not too as it was pretty cramped and dismal. I attempted to go for a walk, first out back past the pool and did not get far. There was no way to get out onto any roads. I then attempted to walk out front onto the hill. I walked along the road for a ways until it became too dangerous. We ate in the restaurant for one breakfast, and the food was just OK and average. We ate in the restaurant for one dinner. The meal was above average, and it was nice to sit outside overlooking the city. There are plenty of better restarants available in Queretaro, so the in house restaurant I would only consider as a convenience. The access to the hotel is not the best. I likely would not stay here again, but the location may suit some, and accessibility may not be an issue for most if they take cabs or use the hotel shuttle.

This was the second hotel we stayed at in Queretaro, I had always wanted to stay here and so we spent three days here. The hotel was nice, the view was awesome. The food was below average and the service was very poor. They were slow, it took me an hour to get a cappuccino, granted I was at the pool. The pool was disgusting, it was not cleaned once while we were there. There was an oily sheen on the water from lotion. There were rarely any towels to be had, and by the last day the bottom was obscured to the point where your hand disappeared after a foot...yuck. This is the first bad review I have ever given of a hotel, so take it for what it is worth...go elsewhere unless you are totally enamored with the view which was spectacular.

Hotel is in the outskirts of Queretaro City Center, but not too far(10min) drive. The rooms are spacious, clean, with plasma TVs. The view from the restaurant, bar and some rooms is great. Staff at bar, front desk and housekeeping are friendly, but not at the restaurant. In general a good, quiet hotel with friendly staff. I will definitely stay there once again.

The only negative about this hotel is that the breakfast is only good, not great. The staff is excellent. I hosted my biggest customer from Japan here and they took excellent care of us and set up a first rate day of sightseeing for us. Late night service on the bar balconies was top notch with the kitchen preparing excellent tapas for us in spite of the late hour. The hotel has a decent work out room and is close to Parque Queretaro is you like to run.

The hotel has a very good view of the city. The rroms are spaciuous and clean. The brekfast is good. The hotel is more for bussiness trips, or ehen you are not going to be much at the hotel.
You need a car to move to and from the hotel since it is weel located but nothing at walking distance.

Muchas gracias y saludos

We stayed in the Holiday Inn in the Zona Diamante while visiting Queretaro for the first time. We did not know until we arrived in Queretaro that there were 2 Holiday Inns and we unfortunately didn't realize where they were in relation to the Centro Historico.

The hotel rooms were nice and very spacious. The breakfast in the hotel was lacking flavor and taste and was mediocre at best, however, if they have the fresh mandarin juice out have some, it's delicious!

Because we did not drive to Queretaro we were reliant on taxis and found we spent a lot of time waiting for them. Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a taxi to make it to the hotel. The upside is, it's not terribly expensive to take taxis in Queretaro, but it's a least a 10 minute drive into the centro area.

No frills hotel that is good for business. Room was clean but poor 1980s television and basic decor. Excellent breakfast and views. Pool are was nice. Tough to find and quite a cab ride from downtown. Would stay again but there are likely better alternatives.
