“Incredible Hotel with Excellent Service”
Reviewed 1 February 2013

This hotel was simply beautiful. From the fresh flowers and vines, to the incredible attention and help of the management and concierge staff, it was an incredible place to stay. The hotel is very close to a local square with things to do every night. It was also very close to shopping and banks. The bed was a little too hard for our taste. The room had 30' beam ceilings, and a walkout balcony. It had a rough-hewn 2inch thick wood door, with a chain and ancient padlock instead of a key card! :) WiFi only worked in the lobby area, but that was explained to us when we checked in. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay, and wished we could have been there longer!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the main building, as it seemed more secure.

this was our first experience in this hotel and we were there for two nights. The rooms are big with very high ceilings, with antique furniture. we were at the Casa Azul, which is the Casa Azul, not in the main building which is more beautiful. The Internet was a failure, with the exception of the lobby. The service needs to improve a lot in order to comply with the expectations that an old house that was converted in a boutique hotel may arise in the travelers. The property and the rooms, including the bathrooms are clean and spacious.
It is quite an experience to stay here and avoid the big chain hotels that are all the same. One of my children asked me: "why are we going to sleep in a museum?".
The rate is not expensive and you will get more than you spent there. Highly recommended, and it is located in the Historic Center of Queretaro.

My husband and I stayed overnight at Casa de la Marquesa for the third time this weekend. We still like the hotel very much; our room in the annex, Casa Azul, was lovely, bathroom great, and it was very quiet, -- a little surprising, as the room was right on the street. Wooden shutters kept the noise out, and the town quiets down nicely after 11 p.m.. Service in the restaurant was good (Caesar salads made tableside; excellent live pianist at Sat. breakfast time), & food great. My worry is about the infrastructure. Instructions on wi-fi didn't work. Reception staff seemed very harried & distracted, both at check in and departure. They were not sure how much we still owed them; took them quite a while to figure it out. They were not their former outgoing, welcoming selves. Restaurant staff seemed harried, as well. I discovered last week that the hotel is no longer listed as a Mexican Boutique Hotel on that website, so am wondering if there's some management shift going on. We'll try them again, as we love the hotel, and will hope this was just a very temporary blip.

Room Tip: If you want the main building, book your room carefully online. "Suites de lujo" are in t...

I like the location and the charm, but I expected a lot more. The Internet was down or unreliable the whole, and the staff was indifferent to the issue. The included breakfast was pretty dismal. The room was fairly noisy as well-- and I ha an interior suite. It's an ok choice, but not as special as I would have hoped. Im surprised by the rave reviews in frommers etc. Overall a so so experience.

Staying at this hotel was perfect as it was close to the town squares, shopping, and restaurants. I probably had the best Margaritas I have ever tasted as they were made fresh from limes and I chose the more expensive Tequila (which was worth it!) Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. The pan (bread) was fresh and tasty. Coffee not so good...tasted stale. The staff were polite, helpful and gracious. Had an early flight out of Queretaro and needed to catch a cab by 5:00am and two gentlemen were up and ready to assist. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Imperial room and one that was even larger. Both were very nice, but not sure we ne...

I've certainly read the guide books and walked into the atrium of La Marquesa so I expected a very high end hotel. What I hadn't expected is that for the quality, it could be very reasonable. Actually not as reasonable as I 1st thought as it turns out that they have a 2nd building where we wanted the main building but still a lot better than I thought.
We stayed in a front room where entry was with a key straight out of colonial times but a great room and very comfortable. Our friends stayed in a side room with a private courtyard which they thought was great.
We had never eaten at the hotel so we tried comida and again I was pleasantly surprised by both the prices and quality.
All in all, we had a great stay!

Room Tip: We looked at a number of rooms and all have quite a history. We like the two front rooms on either s...
