“Good View of the City”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Took the trolly tour that included the Hill of the Bells. The hill allows one to see the city and its urban development. There is much of history related to the hill and also monuments.

“A marvelous piece of history”

You gotta visit and listen to the rocks that sound like a bell! The statues, monuments and gardens surrounding them are beyond gorgeous!

take the train that leaves from down town to take you there. So interesting why it is called like that, and such a beautiful place.

“Hill of the bells”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

Great place for me! Iam from the country where the Habsburg royal family had ruled. Unfortunately for grids can not go inside the chapel. And on the top of the hill there is giant statue of Benito Juarez, who personaly arrange the murder of Maximilian Habsburg... so ridiculous and very sad...

“A historically significant site”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

It is a place where the emperor of Mexico, Maximilian, was put to death. The actual wall by which he and his two generals were shot to death by the forces of the Republic does not exist but instead a chapel on teh exact site houses three stone plaques marking the site of the executions. The name "Hill of the Bells" El Cerro de las Campanas has to do with the type of rocks there that when struck produce a metalic sound due to their metal content. It is a moving place for those who know the tragic story of Maximilian... and his wife Carlota.
