I travelled around Mexico for 1 month with my family and we stopped in Queretero and stayed at the Blue Bicycle House, the staff were very helpful with everything, it is a family run hostal and everyone was very welcoming and friendly.
A healthy light breakfast was included in the Mexican courtyard area, where they also serve lunch and dinner.
The hostal has been completely rennovated and is clean and comfortable, nicely decorated. The family room we stayed in was very spacious and had an ensuite bathroom It is in a good location, walking distance to the centre of the town and all the shops.
You can even rent the bicycles provided there.
There are great views from upstairs overlooking the city which was even more picturesque at night with the city lights.
Queretero has a "safe feeling" about it.
I recommend the hostal if you are stopping for a couple of nights.
