“we love this place”

We've stayed here a few times - we get the room with the fridge and microwave and bring some of our own food/beverages. You can't beat the (AAA) prices!! rooms and bathroom are huge. They do supply soap and shampoo, but thats it. Beds are comfortable. this last time we stayed the tv had a dvd player. Rooms are basically clean. We use this motel as a 'base of operation' and take day trips. Not only is Howe Caverns and all of its activities RIGHT there, but within 60 minutes you also have secret caverns, cooperstown, herkimer mines, hyde hall. Get back to the main road and take a right...a mile down the road is EVERY store you could need, a few decent restraunts, and a diner. there is a list a local restauraunts (I forget if its inthe room you you have to ask) but we've eaten at several and all are good - we especially liked the italian one. We recommend this motel to everyone.
There is a pool but we've stayed out of season for it.

The motel was OK, although not super clean (lots of dead flies in the corners) or very much up to date (no WiFi – 'we're sort of in between routers').

On the other hand; the staff was very helpful, the location and view towards the mountains are really spectacular, and there's benches so you can eat comfortably outside. And the kids loved the fairly large outdoor pool.

We stayed here 1 night as per other trip advisor recommendations. We opted for the Tour & Stay package: $168 +tax: 2 tickets for the Cave Tour, 1/2 pound of fudge; 50% off admission to the American Indian Museum...just down the road, and a goody bag. We felt that our 2 double bed room and separate double sink bathroom with a new shower/bathtub (with hand-rails) & toilet was spacious considering that it is an older motel. Yes, the furniture, carpet and t.v. are outdated. However, everything was spotless. The walls looked recently painted too. We were provided extra towels, extra coffee and tea. Microwave, fridge and hairdryer worked fine. Also enjoyed pool (3 ft to 8 ft), swing set, picnic table overlooking valley and mountains. A/C is a bit loud...older motel. Literally, right across the walking path, you can eat breakfast...cheap.

We booked this motel because it was close to Howe Caverns. We booked a little late because all the single rooms were taken and what's left were double rooms. The room was very clean, but has a strange smell. The air conditioner is very strong, but loud. The bathroom is connected to a room with two sinks. The room also comes with a microwave and mini fridge. The television is out dated, but we didn't have time to watch TV shows. The view outside the hotel was beautiful. There are cows nearby munching on grass!

We stayed in the "Family suite" at the end of the motel - two rooms*both with 2 double beds) connected by a bathroom and a hallway. They are dated- old TVs and fixtures- but clean and comfortable. The room has a fridge and microwave and coffee maker. Make sure you bring some breakfast - there is no restaurant nearby. The "winter" rate of $110 is very reasonable.

Wow! This motel sits on top of a hill with panoramic views of the surrounding hills & valleys. The view would be breathtaking especially in the fall! The cave entrance is a hundred steps away. There is swimming and zip-lining but that doesn't open until May. Our well-appointed room had 2 double beds with small tv, a mini-ref, & microwave. The bathroom is huge with double sinks and a nice clean looks-like-new window. The linoleum and shower curtain also looks new. Linens were crisp and clean. It seems like its been recently painted and recarpeted or rug shampooed. Our hats off to both housekeeping and maintenance staff for doing such an excellent job with the property. I was told it gets real busy here during the summer. Our tour of the cave was semi-private and very much enjoyable without the crowds. The hotel rate during our stay was quite reasonable and respectable. Wish we could stay a second night but there is not much to do here beyond checking out the cave's 1 1/2 hr tour (great place to chill and just relax!). The Native American Museum down the hill isn't open until May. Decent dining is approx 4 miles away. P.S. Don't forget to buy some cave cheese at the gift shop - its delicious!

Room Tip: All the rooms face scenic views!

We stayed here in Novembe2 2011. I was pleasantly surprised by what a scenic setting the motel has. It is up on a hill, overlooking the surrounding hills. Consistent with previous posts, the rooms were very clean. My husband and I stayed there with our adult son and opted for the family suite, 2 bedrooms sharing 1 BR and connected by a hallway with a microwave. It was very nice to be interconnected. Would stay here again.
Enjoyed the convenience of taking the cavern tours on-site. Had our own private tour at 4:30 PM on a Friday afternoon. It was great!
