Her view:

The Kingsbury Country Inn is a relatively new & undiscovered B&B run by a young family of dairy farmers. The B&B itself is actually situated on a quaint working dairy farm, alongside about 500-600 milk cows. My boyfriend and I were looking for a piece of quiet tranquility for a weekend trip out to Lake George, and we defiinitely found it here. The farm is absolutely picturesque with its rolling pastures, white picket fence, red barns and white farm house (aka the Kingsbury Country Inn). There is very little else around (we were about a 20 minute drive from Lake George Village) and this was the most beautiful piece of land in the area. Country lovers would love this place -- it's not your everyday pampering B&B.

The house itself was large & well-kept - I wouldnt' say quaint, for its 4 bedrooms. There was a kitchen, large open dining area, 3 bathrooms in the 1st floor communal area alone, a formal living room, sitting room, & entertainment room w/ a TV & walls of novels (sadly no DVD collection to be found though). The wrap-around porch with its many rocking chairs & picnic tables was gorgeous & perfect for sitting & chatting over tea or hot cocoa. We stayed in Sallie's room, the 2nd largest room (smallest room with private bath), in colonial country style with a four-post bed, sitting chairs, wooden furniture & 2-sink bathroom with shower. The bedrooms are all beautifully acquainted & really far more comfy than the website photos give them justice for. (The two of us would've done just fine with the two smaller rooms which, although don't have private baths, both have access to a HUGE bathroom with whirlpool bath.) The kitchen was nice but horribly organized and not nearly as well appointed with goodies & other B&B's we've stayed at. The availability of useful items (i.e. munchies, cooking utensils, condiments, etc.) are dependant on what was left by previous guests and were sparse. Breakfast was a yummy country breakfast, nothing too fancy, with great juice & yucky coffee.

Overall, a nice experience. Great for the curious & adventurous soul, not for those who want to be absolutely pampered. But for those who'd like to visit the Lake George area and not deal with the hordes of cheesy motels & mobs of tourists, this place is perfect.

His view:

I wouldn't quite say that the Kingsbury Country Inn is run in conjunction with a "quaint" dairy farm - we slept in the vincinity of 600 young cows, most of whom were absolutely adorable & certainly provided for an entertaining experience while visiting the farm. On a hot and sunny Saturday morning we walked along the exceptionally well-kept red barns that housed the replacement cows for the family's other major dairy farm in the area. Being sheltered city-dwellers we each picked our favorite brown cow (which prompted a few "how now brown cow" jokes) and kept her as our favorite for the weekend. Note: If you run into a swell looking and fit brown cow with an ear-tag reading "Czar" and snot running out of her nose, you'll have met our good-friend. Milk well and prosper, Czar.

The inside of the Kingsbury house is very well kept. Our hosts had certainly paid utmost attention to the kitchen where we found all the utensils and cookware we needed for a tasty BBQ on Saturday night. The only issue here was in finding some utensils - it was difficult to locate some things (perhaps it is a poor reflection on my character, but the only thing I can remember having trouble finding was the bottle opener). There was a BBQ grill in the back of the house that we used to cook up a great dinner. I remember thinking on a few occasions that Saturday night that I wish we could have had the grill in the front of the house on the porch rather than in the back, as it would have been easier to transport our food to the table where we ate (on the porch). Also, the front porch is beautiful (esp. before sunset) and it would have been enjoyable to cook there in the company of the cows and the barns. The back of the house, which sports a georgeous view of the sunset over the Adirondack Mountains, is sparse and concrete and not as well appointed as the front side of the house. I must say, though, that watching the sunset while waiting for the food to cook was exceptional - I hope in the future for the back of the house to be as well-appointed as the front.

Note to city-dwellers: I don't care how many times you've "seen the stars", - don't forget to turn out some lights, have a few drinks and go out in the back and star-gaze, it's truly breath-taking.

Anyway, the hosts of the B&B, while very busy, were also hospitable and professional. There were of course no problems with billing or reservations. We were properly told where items were, what we could do, etc. And lucky for us, we were afforded a very interesting tour of the farm.

It's worth experience this unique place for yourself. I would definetely say this is not a B&B that is like any other, but well worth the visit.
