We stopped here on our way to Newark Airport from Quebec. After a long drive, it was just what we needed. A beautifully restored 300 hundred year old inn. Period furniture in every room and such care given to restore this splendid place. A great breakfast served and a quiet respite from the hectic pace we live in.

Taking a short road trip with our dog and finding a place to stay is daunting, and that is what made this a most attractive place to spend the night. Beautiful room, wonderful linens, quiet, and a most delicious 3 course breakfast including home-made bread and granola. We highly recommend The Stone House Bed and Breakfast!

We liked the on-line
photos of the rooms, simple and beautiful rather than full of clutter and chintz; some B&Bs are over decorated. These rooms are tastefully decorated, restful, great bed, very good linens, wonderful shower and high quality bathroom fixtures. The owner was pleasant without needing too much interaction with us. They had lots of interesting and useful tourist materials, including books, available to guests, and it was clear that they are interested in the Dutch history of the area, the local architecture, and whatever might be useful to their guests, for example restaurant recommendations suited to different needs. People we met at breakfast said they come all the time. A range of people, clearly, from young couples who planned to hike, but also middle aged and older people. We were more than satisfied.

Room Tip: Tell Sam what your needs are and he'll tell you which room will suit you best. I liked the room...

We arrived to the house and rang the bell and were then quickly greeted by the innkeeper. He showed us around the house and showed us where to get maps and info on the area, as well as antiques and oddities found in the historic house. He brought us to our room (which had flowers, chocolates, bottled water and champagne waiting for us) gave us the key and told us how to reach him if we needed anything. The room (lacemaker) was gorgeous with large plank floors and exposed beams. The bed was comfortable, the view was amazing, and we had everything we needed. Breakfast was a feast, and the best part of our stay was interacting with the innkeepers over breakfast. They were warm and welcoming as well as extremely helpful. I can't express how much we enjoyed the breakfast, and the interactions. The only issue we had was the wi-if not working, but in this setting, who needs it. 100% satisfied and looking forward to returning.

Thank you for your review, and we're very glad you enjoyed your stay. We've rebooted the router and the Wi-Fi is working again, thank you for letting us know that that needed attention.

I love the Stone House Inn! I've been exploring this area of "mid Hudson Valley" (Stone Ridge, High Falls & Kingston) over the past 1 & 1/2 and found my stay at Stone House a definite highlight. It all begins with gracious and engaging hosts, Nadia and Sam. They are genuinely interested in informing a guests stay from providing well edited nearby restaurants to a tour of a very unique, historical inn. The room I stayed in "the Art of Painting" has divinely comfortable king bed, surrounded by down & exquisite linens. After a day of snowshoeing I was relieved by a rain shower in the room as well mmm. The breakfast was a fresh and hearty selection of homage granola, muffins, oat bread and yummy farm fresh eggs. They were thoughtful to ask about food preferences and allergies as well. I'm really looking forward to returning to Stone House!

Room Tip: Each room has unique character. The Art of Painting has a particularly good rain shower feature

We were looking for a place to spend New Year's Eve not far from the dance being held at Ashoken. We came upon wonderful reviews of this bed and breakfast and booked a room. As a fan of Vermeer it was delightful to see they name all their rooms after his masterpieces. The room was lovely, the bed firm and very comfortable with top quality bedding and comforter. All in all a wonderful experience. The price was reasonable too. Lovely breakfast as well. Will definitely plan a return visit.

The Stone House is a wonderful unpretentious beautifully restored B @ B that is only a short drive from both Kingston and Woodstock and carefully avoids the problems of many restored inns in the area. Sam and Nadia are lovely hosts who let us enjoy our time there (and made us a wonderful breakfast) and were very helpful for the area. It's one of the best inns in the area and extremely reasonable. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: The Girl with the Pearl Earring room- it's lovely ! Go for it !
