“great experience at Thomas Farm Bed & Breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2012

We stayed in this lovely bed and breakfast while dropping our son to Cornell. What a lovely experience! House is beautiful! We stayed in first floor in Thomas parlor. It's a big room for B&B with kitchen and entrance to the porch. Very comfortable bed and there were enough space even with additional cod. Lovely furniture and photos on the wall, board games. Great breakfast and very nice hosts! Wonderful garden around. Very, very nice experience! Thanks a lot!

Thomas Farm Bed and Breakfast is a lovingly restored 19th century farmhouse owned by the nicest couple you could ever wish to meet. My friend and I, retired teachers from Canada, spent four nights there recently and instantly felt at home, as if we were visiting friends rather than staying in a hotel.
Situated in the forested hills outside the college town of Ithaca, the farmhouse provides easy access to some of the best of the Fingerlakes sites, but is a quiet, peaceful getaway in and of itself.
When the owners, Edie and Glen Schneider, renovated their home years ago, they put in all the modern conveniences but retained the warmth and charm of another era - wide plank wooden floors, antique furniture, hand sewn quilts. As one of the other reviewers said, ask them about the history because it's a fascinating story. We had Annie's room which is actually a suite of two good-sized rooms on the second floor. One has a single bed, table and chairs and a small but very serviceable washroom with a shower and the other has a double bed, closets and large windows overlooking the gardens.
Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 and was always tasty and plentiful - fresh fruit, home made muffins, a different hot egg dish every day, good strong coffee.
Edie and Glen have achieved an admirable balance between friendliness and unobtrusiveness. On a couple of nights, we chatted and shared a glass of wine with Edie but at other times, we had plenty of space to ourselves. The owners have separate living quarters and guests share a sunny, spacious downstairs parlour in addition to their rooms so we never felt that we were tripping over other people.
All in all, this was one of the most pleasant bed and breakfast experiences that I've ever had. Thank you, Edie and Glen.

We did a lot of research on B&B and hotels in the Ithaca area prior to visiting with some freinds. The hotels seemed to be quite expensive, and this B&B was less expensive than most of the hotels. This B&B also had the distinct advantage of being less than three miles from our friend's house. We booked it well in advance for five nights, including the week end.

We arrived about 5pm on a Thursday afternoon, and the owners were there to greet us. They were very helpful in helping us to our room on the second floor (the only first floor room had been booked months before). We observed that people who had to arrive late after 10 pm were given a note on the door telling them how to find their room.

Our room (Rene's room) had its own shower, toilet and wash basin. The toilet room and the shower stall were small, but sufficient. The room had a larger than king size bed -- we were told that it was two 3/4 beds put together. The room had ample drawer space to unpack our suitcases. The only drawback was the lack of hanging space -- but we made do with the hanging hooks they had installed in the wall.

Each room also had a book case filled with a selection of hard back books, paper back books and family stuff (e.g. their wedding book was in one room). This added to the "at-home" feel. They had a living room/parlor on the first floor where you could sit and read or just talk.

Breakfast fare rotated throughout the five days. First day was a very nice omelet, then French toast, then scrambled eggs, then a baked egg and cheese dish, and then back to French toast on the last day. They usually served sausage links as well. The meal always started out with coffee, juice and a fresh fruit cup. The fruit cup was excellent every day with a selection of fresh peaches, banana, etc.

The trip into Ithaca was about 10 miles or 20 minutes.

This B&B is located on what has been a family farm throught several different families. The house was built in the mid-ninetenth century. Many of the furnishing are quite old, but in excellent condition. The owners moved into the house in 1980 and made it into a B&B in 1988. During the winter months, they go to Florida and their son Kirk runs the B&B for guests. He is also a local school teacher.

If we had occasion to visit our friends again, we would certainly return to Thomas Farm B&B.

This was a one night stop for us on our way to Niagara on the Lake. Kirk, the owner's son and winter manager of the B&B, was very helpful and was there to greet us even though we were a last minute reservation and arriving late in the evening.
Our room was lovely, very clean, and had a cleverly added en-suite bathroom. The room was even named after me, as Kirk's grandmother and I have the same name. The amenities in the room were top quality, better than in most fancy and more expensive accomodations. There were even robes folded neatly in the bureau drawer.
Breakfast served in the farmhouse dining room was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Kirk has become quite the chef.
The history of the farmhouse is amazing and Kirk was kind enough to share it with us. Be sure to ask for the story. Look around the house to see all the original details, and enjoy a stroll on the beautiful property. All this for a great price, what more can you ask for.

We have enjoyed 2 visits to this lovingly restored farm home on a beautiful piece of property, conveniently located only on the edge of Ithaca. The home is immaculate and welcoming. Each room is distinct and as described on the website. Our room was a suite that included a master bedroom, private bath and a room for our daughter. Late arrivals were handled with ease and our hosts were gracious and kind. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the common areas as well as hiking on the grounds. We plan to return soon!

Room Tip: Check out their excellent website!

This was a beautiful farm house restored by the family. This b&b is right outside of the city of Ithaca. It's the perfect location if your looking for a country feeling but want to be close to the city (15 to 20 min drive). Our room was beautiful and spotless! The grounds are awesome with a mash land on their property. The owners take pride in their home and service. Amazing breakfast in the morning!
