We spent two days on the lake, spending the night at the Driftwood Inn on the west side of the lake. Cayuga is a big lake - 38 or so miles long, up to 5 miles wide, and roughly 400' deep. If you are planning on boating on this lake make sure 1. You check the weather. If the wind is right the waves can get big and you could find yourself overmatched. and 2. Have a full tank of gas. There are places to buy gas, for sure, but as this lake is big you might find the gas is further away than you planned! There are multiple state parks from which to launch or at which you can play. Taughannock Falls St Park is the one we launched from and it boasts a handy waterfall to hike (and easy hike) up to. At the south end is Ithaca with plenty to do, a nice waterfront restaurant (the Boatyard Grill and Bar) and a very nice marina. Note: The marina is not a close walk to town ( a mile or two at least) so you might want to take a cab.
